Roni Giovanni Caletti
July 31st, 2024
With overwhelming sadness, we announce the passing of our beloved Ron, who passed away at the age of 86 at Rotary Hospice in Richmond, B.C. with his wife and daughters by his side.
Ron will forever be remembered and missed by Noreen, his wife of 64 years, his son Michael (Bernice), daughters Julie (Dave), Sherri (Rick) grandchildren Danielle, Josh, Bay, Ty, brother Gino (Bette), niece Gina (Rob), and his dog Lexi. Ron was predeceased by his father Alfredo, mother Rosa, and niece Lori.
Ron was born and raised in Vancouver, and attended Vancouver Technical Secondary School, where he excelled in their sheetmetal program. Upon graduation Ron was hand-picked by Coast Hudson Sheetmetal — the same company he retired from 42 years later as their Sheetmetal Superintendent.
In the late 60’s Ron and Noreen established themselves in Richmond, where they raised their three children. Family was very important to Ron and Noreen, and Sunday evenings were reserved for weekly extended family gatherings at Ron’s mom’s place. As the kids grew to young adults, Sunday dinners became the tradition. These were lively occasions, with invitations to these dinners extended to friends, boyfriends and girlfriends alike.
Ron was a fan of all sports, but his absolute favourite was hockey - Hockey Night in Canada was never missed in the Caletti household. As the kids grew, Ron could often be found behind the bench of Mike’s football, baseball, soccer and lacrosse teams, but he simply just loved to watch his kids play. This was even more-so with the grandchildren!
As a young family, summer vacations were usually spent camping in Osoyoos or road-tripping to Disneyland. Following retirement, Ron and Noreen set up a trailer at Cultus Lake Holiday Park, where they thoroughly enjoyed spending time with friends and family (especially the grandchildren) during the summer months. Ron & Noreen continued with their travels through retirement with many road trips to Arizona, Palms Springs, and further excursions to Mexico, Hawaii, and Europe. Ron and Noreen’s last big vacation was a cross-Canada multi-stop rail trip from Vancouver to Halifax. Ron certainly enjoyed travel, but loved being home with his family the most.
Ron was a handyman’s handyman. He could build or fix anything and whatever he touched was done perfectly - he was a meticulous craftsman, always taking great pride in the final “product”.
Ron was a kind, loving man who was always willing to lend a hand to anyone who asked. He was a good friend, a loving husband and an amazing father and grandfather. He will be missed dearly.
The family would like to extend our sincere appreciation to those who have offered their support and condolences in this time of loss.
In lieu of flowers, we respectfully request that donations be made to the Salvation Army Rotary Hospice House.
A Celebration of Life for Ron will be on Sunday, September 22 from 2:00 - 4:00 pm. at South Arm Community Centre (8880 Williams Rd., Richmond B.C).

I am so sorry for your loss! There is a very special place in my heart for all the memories at the Caletti household and the smile on your dad’s face when us kids would come over to hang out! You always felt like you mattered when Mr. Caletti lit up! I am blessed to know him!

Dear Noreen; We feel truly saddened to learn of Ron’s illness and passing. Several years ago we had the pleasure of meeting you both when you visited Ottawa and the Caletti’s at the cottage. Fun stories shared during this memorable visit. Our sincere condolences. Mary and Gino Caletti (Oakville)
