Dante Arceo Hipolito

July 12th, 2024

It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Dante Arceo Hipolito on July 12, 2024, at the age of 54. He was determined to overcome cancer, but he peacefully passed away at St. Michael’s Hospice in Burnaby, surrounded by his loving family.

Dante, born in Manila, Philippines, was the second youngest of eleven siblings. His journey in Canada began in 1995, driven by a passion to serve in the healthcare sector. After his graduation from Kwantlen University in 2000, he made significant contributions to various hospitals, including Lions Gate’s Neuro ICU, and Cardiac units at Burnaby, Richmond, and Royal Columbian. His expertise also extended to the Pediatric Team of Bayshore Home Health, where he provided trach and vent care to young children. His commitment to his profession was further demonstrated in his role as a palliative nurse at Care at Home Services.

In 2003, Dante made a life-changing decision to accept Jesus as his Lord and Savior. This profound spiritual awakening shaped his life and he was always eager to share his faith. His ultimate desire was to hear the words, 'Well done, good and faithful servant,' from his Creator.

Dante's generosity and kindness touched many lives. He would go to great lengths to help those in need and was always ready to share his love for cooking by preparing food for friends and family. His desire for a feast reflected his warm and hospitable nature, and his culinary skills brought joy to many. He loved to tend to his flowers and plants in the spring and summer. He was a loving and devoted father and husband, and a caring brother to his siblings, always quick-witted and ready with a funny joke.

He will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by his wife, Carlota Flores-Hipolito, of 24 years, and daughter, Angelika Hipolito. Siblings Susan (John), Zenaida (Larry), Cristina, Josefina, Benigno Jr. (Sarah), Elvira (Eric), Redentor (Joyce), Jerry (Mylen), Melissa (Rene), nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Benigno and Clarita, and brother, August.

Rest in peace, our dearest Dante—until we meet again.

A Celebration of Life for Dante will be held at 5:30 p.m. on Monday, August 12th, at Emmanuel Pentecostal Church, 321 Carnarvon Street, New Westminster, B.C.

“For I know that all things work together

for good to those who love God,

to those who are called

according to his purpose”

(Romans 8:28)

Messages:

A shooting star across the sky that burned so brightly and ended all too soon. You have made such a positive impact in the lives that you’ve touched. You will always be remembered.

From time to time at my new unit I work at after leaving 3C, I think of Dante's jokes and his strong belief in God. When I knew he was working on my shift, I knew it would be a fun, good and helpful shift no matter how heavy and bad the unit was. I send my condolences to Dante's family, he will always be in your hearts.

Dante was a wonderful nurse and great colleague. He always showed compassion to his patients and fellow nurses. He was one of the ones I knew had my back. It brought me great sadness to hear his passing. I will miss working with Dante and his always caring and jolly personality. My deepest condolences. May he rest in peace.
