Richard William Waller

May 4th, 2013

Dick passed away peacefully at Richmond General Hospital.  He is survived by his wife Gail, sons Michael (Pam) Kurt (Jaime), his daughter Brenda (Rick), and Kathy Waller. Grandchildren Lauren Trevor, Morgan and Danielle. He was predeceased by granddaughter Emily Dick, is also survived by brothers Ken  (Marguerite) Bob (Donna) sister Barbara (Eugene), Brother-in -law John (Susan ) sister in law Judie as well as several nephews and nieces.

Dick was born in Winnipeg Manitoba.  He moved his family to Richmond in 1969 to continue his employment with TCA/Air Canada as a Licensed Mechanic.  He maintained his love of aircraft throughout his career.  Dick enjoyed going to his job regardless of the shift. He was a Cub leader at South Arm Church for several years while his boys were moving from beavers to scouts. Dick received great satisfaction out of  his interaction with the cubs.

Dick imparted his knowledge of cars and machinery throughout the neighborhood and got involved whenever something did not run smoothly be it a bike, lawn mower or car. His motto was "if it went together it would come apart".

He spent the growing years with his young family camping around BC especially the Merritt area, teaching the kids woodsman skills and going after the elusive fish with the trusted wedding band lure. Later he showed the same experiences to the grand kids where their parents had spent their vacations. He started a new tradition by teaching each of the grandkids the joy of a bountiful happy hour.

Upon retirement Dick and Gail became snowbirds and travelled to California and Arizona enjoying the RV lifestyle. He enjoyed meeting new and old friends and sharing ideas and knowledge about his passion for the motor home.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Air Canada Dreams Take Flight Vancouver Charitable Chapter Celebration of Life to be held Saturday May 25, 2013 1PM-4PM at Richmond Curling Club, 5540 Hollybridge Way, Richmond BC.
