September 17th, 2024
1949 - 2024
Steve passed away suddenly at home on September 17th. He will be deeply missed by Teri, his wife of 51 years, daughter Tanya, mother Joyce and grandchildren Caitlin, Joel, Brent, Uluk and Xaine. He was pre-deceased by his father, Bill, in 1974 and by his brother, Dave in 2023.
Steve graduated from the University of Waterloo, pursued post graduate studies at the University of Manitoba and taught Economics at the University of Regina. He then joined the Ontario Provincial Government where he spent several years as Assistant Deputy Minister of Finance. Later, he was appointed Senior Vice President, Strategic Planning at Hydro One.
Over the years, Teri and Steve had dozens of adventures including rafting the Grand Canyon, hiking the Inca Trail, climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro and cycling through Europe, Asia and South America.
After his retirement Steve remained active, skiing at Sun Peaks while continuing to consult on numerous projects. In 2020, Steve and Teri made White Rock their home where Steve enjoyed walks by the ocean, lawn bowling and the beautiful sunsets.
Steve was an exceptional person, loved and respected by many. He will be missed.
There will be a Celebration of Life on Thursday, October 16 from 2-4 pm at the White Rock Lawn Bowling Club. In lieu of flowers, donations to Doctors Without Borders would be appreciated by the family.

I was saddened to read today of Steve's passing. Although we got together only once as adults, I fondly remember our childhood in Winnipeg, where Steve and Dave were constant companions of my brothers, Chris and Ian. My heart goes out to Joyce, Teri, and Tanya at this devastating loss. May you find comfort in each other.
