Barbara Helen Clayton

Barbara Helen Clayton (nee Sharp). Helen passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 28, 2011 at the Bethany Care Harvest Hills in Calgary at the age of 95 years. She was born in Thunder Bay, Ontario in 1916 to Jim and Amy Sharp and came to Alberta the following year. Helen grew up in a close-knit family of nine who lived at various locations before settling in Crossfield. She was married to Edwin Clayton for 53 years, farming at Airdrie and Didsbury where they enjoyed many friendships and were active in their church and community. Helen was well-known for her hospitality, generosity and love of family. She was predeceased by husband Edwin Clayton; brothers Harold, Roy, Ernest, Albert and Lorne Sharp; sisters Gertrude Trick, Mabel Nunn-Winger and great granddaughter Eliza Rosenke. She will be remembered lovingly by daughters Katharine (Jack) McFarquhar of Calgary and Charlotte Rosenke of Red Deer; grandchildren Keith McFarquhar, Heather McFarquhar (Jeff Marshall), Jean (Kris) Kinnear, Greg (Monika) Rosenke and three great grandchildren. A special thank you to staff of the Bethany Harvest Hills for their kindness to Helen during her six year stay. A private family service and interment will be held in Didsbury.
