Donna Mae Farley

December 25th, 2011

It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Donna Mae Farley, age 66 years of Calgary, Alberta on Sunday,  December 25, 2011.  Donna was born in Brandon, Manitoba and raised on the family farm near Douglas.  She received her education at Derry school, continuing at Douglas and completing high school at Elton Collegiate, Forrest, Manitoba.  She later studied at Simon Fraser University and received her Bachelor of Arts degree.  She worked for a short time in Brandon, moving west to Calgary and later Vancouver. She returned to Calgary where she ran her own home/pet care business until her passing.

Donna is survived by mother Hazel, brothers Grant (Donna), Fraser (Lorelle), Ian, Ross (Cheryl) and sisters Connie (Ron) and Penny. Donna was predeceased by her father Basil and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Donna was an avid reader, with interests in photography, art, theatre, and in earlier years hiking, running and cross country skiing. She had a special place in her heart for her four legged friends, coming home to the farm to manage the maternity barn when her dad was ill. She enjoyed her uncle Earle’s draft horses and spent countless hours on her sister Penny’s farm with the Clydesdale horses, cattle, sheep and dogs.  Fittingly, she was with one of her favourite dogs, Palmer at the time of her passing.

Donna had some special friends in her life, notably, Patrick and Virginia, Linda and Leon, Barbara and Rodney. Donna cherished her friendship with each of them and they were truly her extended family. These dear friends made Donna’s life complete.

Cremation has taken place with a Memorial Service and internment at Madford Cemetery, Douglas, Manitoba to be announced at a later date.

Messages of condolence may be left for the family.
