Gladys Merle Greene

Merle Greene passed away peacefully at the age of 96 surrounded by her family.  Merle was born  in Vancouver, British Columbia. 

Merle is survived by her children; Garry (Marilyn), Daryl (Barb) and  Lynn (Ed Bradley); grandchildren, Cassie, Dean, Shannon, Shelley, Darren, Derek and Corrie; 8 great grandchildren and sisters –in-law Irene Bourque and  Irene (Wilfred- predeceased) as well as numerous nieces, nephews and their families.  Merle was predeceased by her husband Vernon (1991), her parents Joseph and Sarah, sister Erma and brothers Ed and Lloyd, mother-in-law Mary and sister-in-law Dorothy. 

She grew up in Pilot Mound, Manitoba and graduated from the School of Nursing at Brandon General Hospital in Brandon, Manitoba.  Merle nursed in Brandon General and Estevan prior to coming to Carmangay Hospital in 1943, where she met and married Vernon in 1944.  They farmed and raised their 3 children until retiring to Claresholm in 1983. 

Mom enjoyed her family get togethers, socializing, camping with friends and gardening.  Where ever Mom went she always had her large “first-aid kit” on hand. 

At Mom’s request there will be no Service.  A Private Family Service will be held at a later date. 

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to S.T.A.R. S. Box 570, 1441 Aviation Park NE, Calgary, Alberta T2E 8M7 or a charity of choice. 

Mom will be dearly missed by all her family.
