Raymond Ivory Hall

October 11th, 2011

On October 11, 2011 our beloved Dad and Grandpa closed his eyes in this world and opened them in Heaven.  Ray was predeceased by his loving wife Jean of 63 years and survived by his children David (Katrina), Pamela (Don) Jonasson, Craig (Carolyn), and seven grandchildren Cameron (Kim), Christopher, Cody, Ethan, Emily, Braden and Benjamin. Ray was born in Timmons, Ont. on July 31, 1924. In 1946 after serving in the RCAF for 4 years he moved to Boston, Mass. where he met the love of his life Jean and married in 1947. In 1958 they moved to Calgary to start a new life and raise a family. We will always remember Papa for his strong convictions, unconditional love, engaging personality and sense of humour. His tender heart reflected his deep love for Jesus.

A Celebration of Ray's Life will be held at Foothills Alliance Church, 333 Edgepark Blvd. NW, Calgary on Friday, October 21, 2011 at 1:30 pm. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Alzheimer’s Society of Calgary, 201, 222 – 58 Avenue SW, Calgary, Alberta  T2H 2S3 or www.alzheimercalgary.com. Our family would like to provide a special thanks to the staff of Colonel Belcher for their wonderful care.

Messages:

Dear Dave & Katrina and family: We didn't know your dad, but we do know the feelings of loss when a dad/grandpa passes away. We rejoice with him at his great gain, while also sorrowing with you in your great loss. The loss is real, and acute, and (unfortunately) it'll raise its head many times again, sometimes at inopportune times. In all this, the God of all comfort is with us. Praying for His peace for you. --David & Rosalie

Dear David, Pamela, and Craig: It was some 50 years ago when I first met your father; and to this day, I still feel the warmth and understanding of his ways and words... then and over the years past. Truly I have been blessed to have known him. I extend to each one of you and to your loved ones,my heartfelt condolences. -Andrew Joo

I fondly remember Ray Hall from back in the 1960's, when he was one of the best mechanics in Calgary - I would often take my car in for some work to his gas station - Ray was a very kind and patient man. He was always friendly and upbeat and I never saw him in a bad mood. All of his customers, including me, valued him very much for his honesty. I do also know that Ray was active and instrumental in the Boy's Brigade Club which he was a very integral part of, for many years, at the First Alliance Church, when it was located downtown on 17th Ave & 1st Str. West. Many young boys looked up to him, for his leadership and faith in Jesus Christ, as he volunteered his time with the Boys Brigade Club, for many years. He was a great role model for the young men in that Church. My condolenses to all of you at this time. Sincerely Charlotte Kenney
