Cliff Hoath
passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 4, 2011 at the Calgary Bethany Care
Centre at the age of 76 years.
He is
survived by his loving wife Barbara; sister Jean Johnston; sister-in-law
Margaret Hoath; children Robin Hoath, Rick (Bonnie) Hoath and Rhonda (Ken)
Stockill; step-children Darin (Tracey) Gillies and Darcy (Elaine) Gillies;grandchildren
Sean, Lindsay, Miranda, Joshua, Justin, and Chloe and great-grandchild
Nolan. He was predeceased by his parents
Dick (Poppy) and Margaret (Nannie) and brother Richard.
Cliff was born and
raised in Thessalon, Ontario served in the Armed Forces at Gimli, Manitoba in
the 1950’s, and afterward began his long and successful career in sales. He held various sales positions with Dunlop
Tire, Bell & Howell, I.C.S., and University Scholarships of Canada. Cliff enjoyed his various roles in the
education sector and his service and friendships within the Masonic Lodge,
I.O.O.F., A.C.T. and Legion.
Cliff also
enjoyed his life on other fronts, like connecting with family members often in
the wee hours of the night, playing darts and golf with friends, reminiscing
about the exciting times on the curling rink, cheering for the Calgary Flames,
going RV’ing and building bonfires, playing with his dogs, telling and laughing
over a good joke or limerick and singing out an old tune. Cliff will be sadly missed and always
remembered as a quick-witted, enthusiastic, charismatic man. Special thanks is extended to the staffs of
the Foothills Hospital and the Calgary Bethany Care Centre.
A Celebration of Cliff’s Life will be held in
Thessalon, Ontario in July 2012. In lieu
of flowers, the family asks that memorial tributes in Cliff’s name be made to
