James Francis (France) Hawkey
October 14th, 2012
Son
of an early-day family of the Airdrie district, Francis toured the frontiers of
the world in the employ of various drilling companies before retiring to the
family farm at Airdrie and operating, in succession, a rural mail delivery
service and a tree planting business.
France had the quite reasonable view that he was here on earth to have
fun and in company with his many friends, he had a lot of it. He was
predeceased by his parents, Frank and Marianne (nee Tebb). He is survived by
his brothers, Robert Clarence (Catherine) and Clifford (Donna); and his sisters
Marjorie Lefevre and Mary Underschultz and by many nieces, nephews and
cousins. At France’s request no funeral
will be held. His ashes will be
scattered with due ceremony in the foothills of the Rockies that he loved. A family gathering will be held at a later
date.
Messages of condolence may be left
for the family.
France will be missed by all the oldtimers left around. He was a chararcter with many sides to him. It would be interesting to have a get together to swap stories about the old times.
