Kelly James Peters
October 6th, 2012
Peters, Kelly James - It breaks our hearts that our wonderful Kelly has been taken from us so quickly and tragically. Kelly was born July 9, 1962 in Calgary and passed away early in the morning on Oct. 6, 2012 due to complications from a recent accident. Those who will miss him most are his wife, Lara and his children, the joys of his life – Darson & McQuina. Kelly had a large family: remaining to remember him with love are his mom Veda Miller, his sisters, Ruth Christman, Mary (Perry) Gerscht & Tobi (Al) Fishman, his ‘Bro’ Cameron (Wendy) Peters, his brother Tony Peters and his paternal grandmother, Mary Peters. Of course he also counts as family all his in-laws: Dave & Wendy McIver, Kent (Joyce) McIver, Brent (Vivian) McIver, Kraig (Visal) McIver – and multiple nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins on both sides. Kelly had previously lost his dad, George and siblings Kevin, Terry, Shannon and Jeff. Although Kelly did not live long enough to mend this fence, somewhere he has a grown son, Shane, who was often remembered by him. Kelly did not always have an easy life, but being the excellent card player he was – he took what was dealt him and made the most of it. Kelly worked hard and played hard, taking pleasure in life’s simple joys – good food, good music, good friends (especially Clint & Jay), good (or cheap) beer and a campfire when he could find one. He was a truly talented chef who loved to be creative. Kelly also loved to laugh, he loved to tease his wife and horse around with his kids. We wish he was still with us, but we know that God has him now and is taking delight in him. Please join us in remembering him on Saturday, Oct. 13, 2012, 3:00PM at his church Altadore Baptist (4304 – 16th Ave SW) There will be an opportunity to raise a glass in his memory on Friday, Oct. 12 as well, please call 403-390-9750 for details. We are so grateful to all our family and friends that have showered us with support in the past few days and weeks and we want to thank the ICU at the Peter Lougheed for fighting so hard and doing everything in their power to make a miserable situation bearable. Kelly’s highest priority in the last years of his life was taking care of his family – we know he would appreciate donations being made for Darson & McQuina’s future – please call (403) 246-3248 for more information. Arrangements entrusted to Alternatives Funeral & Cremation Services of Calgary.
