Catheline "Cathy" Agnes Lois Collie

November 9th, 2014

COLLIE, Catheline Agnes Lois (Curts)
March 19, 1957 ~ Penticton, BC
November 9, 2014 ~ Airdrie, AB

It is with the greatest of sorrow that we announce the passing of Cathy: a wife, mother, sister, aunt and friend on Sunday, November 9, 2014. She leaves behind her husband, Ric Collie; daughter, Laine Ashley; mother, Joy Frost, previously Curts; three sisters, Brenda Curts, Joy Tamura and Stacy Houle; two brother-in-laws, Ron Tamura and Ron Houle; nieces and nephews, Amber, Tina, Brittany, Olivia, Tenaya, Abby, Paige, Presley, Jacob and Benjamin; as well as Ric’s brothers, Con & Dave and their extended families.

After leaving Okanagon Falls, Cathy finished high school at KSS in Kelowna, where she was apparently quite the trend setter. Then it was off to attend Kelowna College, taking courses in business education and culinary arts. She then left to Calgary, Alberta to start a long lasting career in the oil fields. Cathy was a fearless leader in all that she did, whether it was volunteering, involvement in ski clubs, organizing girls’ golf weekends or helping out at Laine’s school in almost anything. Ask anyone! Even up to the end she led us with her amazing strength and showed us the impossible.

A Celebration of Cathy’s Life will be held at Faith Community Baptist Church, 2104 Yankee Valley Blvd SW, Airdrie, AB on Saturday, November 15, 2014 at 1:00 pm. Cathy’s favorite color was pink and at her request, the family encourages all those in attendance to brighten the church with color.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Cathy’s memory to :

To Ric and family....May I offer my deepest sympathy in the passing of Cathy. I had the privilege of working with Cathy WAY back in the late 70's at AGIP Canada in Calgary......I so enjoyed working with Cathy. energetic, always helpful, hardworking, a person you could always count on for getting the job done well...loved her honesty and, occasionally if the situation warranted it, no sugar-coating!!! She will be deeply missed, but in reading the above, it is plain to see that she wrote a beautiful, life-giving story for many to enjoy. Warmest regards Art
