Albert Dykstra
March 8th, 2014
Albert Dykstra, born September 17, 1953, passed away Saturday morning, March 8, 2014, with his loving wife Myra by his side. His last hours were spent with his wife; his three children, Julie and her husband Brent Wasson, Amy and her husband Rick Kohut, and Nicholas and his wife Rachel Belliveau;as well as his two grandchildren, Evan and Sophia Kohut. He will also be remembered by his three brothers, John, Rick, and Fred. Albert was the son of the late Doeke and Leentje Dykstra. Having grown up on a dairy farm in the Fraser Valley, BC, Albert learned to pull his weight at a young age. By the age of 14, he was working full time at a neighbouring dairy farm. He met the love of his life, his wife, not long after. After having their three children, the young family moved to the Didsbury, AB area, in 1981 with the goal of building their own dairy farm. After many successful years of farming, the family moved to Didsbury in 1996 where Albert worked for West Country Dairy Supplies just outside of Olds. Albert loved spending time with his children and grandchildren, taking drives with his wife in the country, maintaining his beautiful home and backyard, and taking holidays with his close friends and children. Albert was a kind, soft spoken, and modest man with a quick and disarming wit. Most importantly, Albert was an open-hearted man of faith with an unwavering ethic. The family would like to thank the staff at the Southwood Hospice in Calgary for their compassionate care. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, March 15, 2014 at 2:00 pm at the Bergthal Mennonite Church. For those who wish, donations in Albert’s Memory may be made to The Mustard Seed Ministry, 102 – 11 Avenue SE, Calgary, AB, T2G 0X5.

We will never forget the early years which we spent together with Albert. What fun we had! Now he has gone on ahead but we will still see him in the faces of his Children. Myra may God keep you in his care until that day when we will all see him again. Roland and Rose Dirks Chilliwack.
