Marjorie "Marge" Doreen Gudmundson

GUDMUNDSON, Marge
Mom … we lost you on July 30th, 2014 – one day short of your 60th wedding anniversary. When you passed dad was at the florist ordering you a beautiful bouquet for his magnificent bride to be given the next day. You have always been our rock and our everything. You taught us how to enjoy life, respect others, and to always see our cup as half full. The laughs, tears, comfort and hugs over the years will never be forgotten. The Sunday dinners, all the ‘have to leave early’ to do another white hat ceremony to further endorse the great city we live in. Your vision built a 32’ tall, 9,000 kg ‘Mac The Moose’ to promote the city you lived in years ago – Moose Jaw - and started a “band hat” tourist promotion and remember you designing and creating each personalized hat in your basement. This led to the White Hats (Stetsons) in Calgary, and you doing over 18,000 presentations. Tourism and promoting your community while giving to others was always #1 with you from dignitaries (delivering Ralph Klein your famous homemade chocolate chip cookies regularly) to The Flames, The Stampeders, Calgary Police Service, the Harts, celebrities and politicians including Mikhail Gorbachev, world-wide. You had that special love that came across to all you met and radiated throughout the room. Your legacy will remain strong in those you have left to try and fill your shoes that took 79 years to build – your ever loving husband Jack, daughter Darla Palmer (Greg), 3 grand-daughters Carla Jones, Kristine Jones and Jamie Palmer, and son Jim (Terry), along with your beloved grand-dogs Bella, Nikita, Deezie, Lola, Gucci, Monty, Ava and Mister Jackson. Heaven has just received their most special angel and when those white pearly gates opened, I’m sure you were there with a white hat to do your final and ultimate presentation. As you always said… never drive faster than your guardian angel can fly. A Celebration of Marge’s Life will be held at the Southern Alberta Pioneer’s Memorial Building, 3625 – 4th Street SW, Calgary on Wednesday, August 27, 2014 at 2:00 pm. Donations may be made in Marge’s memory to Calgary SPCA, 4455 – 110 Avenue SE, Calgary, AB, T2C 2T7 or Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, #204, 1608 – 17 Avenue SW, Calgary, AB, T2T 0E3.Messages:
I worked with Jack briefly at CP Rail and I only met Marge twice but both people left a positive impression. To Jack and the family: Prayers for God's blessing and comfort in your time of grief. Sorry I cannot attend on Wednesday.
We were saddened to hear of Marge's passing...but we thought mostly of all of the Memories that we have of her! Many, many meetings....many projects ! Many kindnesses shown to our Family !! She will always be remembered as a dynamic Lady....alive with so many energies. A very special Lady , no doubt about that. Doug and Cathy Marr in Moose Jaw, Sask. "Rest In Peace"
Marge was an awesome neighbour and friend. When my husband was sick and couldn't chew Marge arrived at our house once a week with at least 10 containers of ice cream, all different flavors. This is just one example of her love and care. She touched so many people. The kids at our church loved, "Miss Marge" as she helped in Sunday School. My youngest daughter will always remember being invited for tea with Marge and drinking out of china tea cups. See you in heaven. You will be missed on earth.
Our family was saddened to hear of Marge's passing. All of us had fond memories of our time on James Street growing up with your family. She'll not soon be forgotten! Our thoughts are with you all! The Gaudreau Family
So sorry to hear that Marge has passed. I have so many fond memories of her from Moose Jaw. She was a special woman that carried an energy like no one else. Unfortunately I am unable to make the celebration but do hope to connect with a few of you at some time in the future. If ever on Vancouver Island and in the vicinity of Fanny Bay please do call and stop by so we can reminisce about someone the world will truly miss. Please accept our sincere condolences. Thank you Marge! Marie and Marc Gaudreau
I loved your mother so much. She was so kind to me, a true friend. I remember the calls that came regularly, "Well, hello little lady!" I was shocked when I learned of her death and have been thinking of her all week long. The irony is, I looked up her number a couple of months ago to give her a call. I wish more than anything I had put aside life, and dialled that number. She will always be in my heart and her voice will forever live in my memory. Most importantly, her giving soul, will be part of my life and for that I cannot thank her enough. My thoughts are with all of you at this difficult time. Thank you for sharing your mother, wife, mother-in-law with the rest of us.
We are so sorry to hear of the passing Marge. Barb and I loved our time with her during our Musty Feathers days.... our condolences to her family.
