John Koch, age 88, quietly took his final breath on Friday, April 11, 2014 in the Three Hills hospital with his daughter, Jeanne by his side. He will be remembered by his three surviving children, Sandra (Walter) Lune, Jeanne McMullen, Richard (Carol); his siblings, Laura (Ernest) Kiemele, Alvin (Joyce) and Frank (Rosemary); his 10 grandchildren; Kathy, Matthew, Audrey, Darren, Jenette, Bj, Cordel, Sheldon, Leon and Carmen and his 15 great grandchildren; Miguel, Manuela, Marco, Isabel, Amanda, Lexie, Matthew, Dawson, Myla, Brayden, Kaylyn, Jojo, Austin, Bridget and Houston as well as many nieces and nephews. John was predeceased by his devoted wife on July 14, 2010; his brother, Kenneth, December 1935 at age 3; his mother, Esther (Durand) August 1985; his father, Frank May 1988; his mother-in-law, Pearl Robillard June 1993 and father-in-law February 1974. John was born on the farm at Kinnondale, N.E. of Lomand, Alberta. John grew up on the farm, went to school at Kinnondale, First Chance and Bow City, and then attended high school in Brooks, Alberta. He went to S.A.I.T. in Calgary and graduated from industrial electricity. John married Irene Koch in February 1950. He worked for Calgary Power in Brooks and Blairmore, ending his career in Calgary and then retiring to Linden. John loved fishing and was always trying to catch the big one. John and his wife Irene, traveled the world together before Irene`s death, and then he traveled alone until his ill health prevented him travelling. A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, April 17, 2014 at 3:00 pm at Linden Alliance Church, 614 Central Avenue W., Linden, AB.
