Janie Marie McKay
December 29th, 2014
McKAY, Jane (nee Austin)
Jane was born April 8, 1942 in Kimberley, BC and passed away peacefully on Monday, December 29, 2014 at the age of 72 years, in the presence of family.
Jane is lovingly remembered by her three children, Paul (Sunday), Jason (Debbie) and Barbra Carpay (John); six grandchildren, Shawna, Ryan, Victor, Anastasia, Elisha and Sophia; and her brothers, Bill and Terry. Jane was predeceased by her husband and best friend, Gerry in May of this year.
Jane was the 4th of 6 children and grew up in Kimberley, BC where she met her future husband. In 1971, Jane and Gerry and 3 little kids moved to Calgary, where she worked in the Admitting Department at Foothills Hospital. She will be forever remembered for her dry sense of humor and quick wit. She regularly had the family in stitches with her off the cuff comedy. She will also be remembered as a wonderful mother, grandmother, auntie and friend. She adored her grandchildren and was known to spoil them rotten on a regular basis. Jane loved to entertain, regularly making enough food to feed an entire neighborhood, even if only a few people were coming over, Her generosity knew no bounds. She was a true lady: she loved to shop and have her nails done and her hair coiffed. As loving as she was, she was loved back 10 fold. She was adored and will be missed. We love you mom. Forever in our hearts.
A Memorial Service will be held at St. James Anglican Church, 6351 Ranchview Drive NW, Calgary, AB on Thursday, January 8, 2015 at 1:00 pm.

Dear McKay family, It was heartbreaking to hear of Jane's passing. I was your mom's dental hygienist for over 30 years and I feel so blessed and privileged to have known her and spent many memorable dental visits with her. On numerous occasions I was the recipient of her generosity, her good counsel and her warm hugs. She has touched my heart and soul. I will miss Jane but I will never forget her, especially that beautiful smile. My deepest sympathy to all. Sincerely Wanda Piattelli
Paul and family. So sorry to hear the passing of your Mom. She was a great lady. We have fond memories of her and your Dad on some of our PEI conventions. Never a dull moment when we all got together. You will miss her a great deal. We are down south now and only just heard the news so will be unable to attend the memorial service. We will be thinking of you and your family. Sincerely Heather and Warner Loat
