John Newton was unexpectedly called home into the arms of his Lord and Saviour on the evening of Monday, April 14, 2014 in the presence of his family. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 40 years, Gwendolyn; his children, Paul (Kimberley), Candace (Robert), David (Marie); grandchildren, Dominic and Isaac; and Marie’s children, Alex and Sofia; sister, Beverley; brothers-in-law, David (Ruth), Stephen (Colleen); nephew, Christopher; nieces, Laura, Diana and Christine; and beloved mother-in-law, Winnifred Pope. Jack worked for IBM Canada and Anacomp Canada, and since his retirement has devoted his time to his children and grandchildren. A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, April 23, 2014 at 2:00 pm at Bethany Chapel, 3333 Richardson Way SW, Calgary. All are welcome. In lieu of flower, the family has set up an account for the benefit of Jack’s beloved grandchildren, Dominic and Isaac. Donations can be made to Gwendolyn Newton.

So surprised to learn about Jack's departure! You are both in the sweet memories I keep of my stay at your house in Montreal, Gwen, a long long time ago. Jack is now Home, just some time before us. And he now sees the One who loved and loves him so, what a comforting thought! May He Himself comfort you all.

Dear Gwen and family, we are so saddened to hear of Jack's passing. Our prayers will be with you all as you go through this time of sorrow. Candace I am so sorry about your Dad, your Rock he was an amazing man and he loved you all very much. He had a great sense of humour but kept those boys in line when they needed it. My condolences to your whole family and be strong he would want that. If you need me you know where I am.

Dear Gwen, Cathy told me about the sudden passong of Jack. What an incredible shock that must be. I have been praying fr you for a very long time and I want to pass on my love and care at this time.
