Elwood "Al" Peters

Elwood (Al) George Peters, following a courageous battle with cancer, passed away February 8, 2014 at the age of 74 years. He was born at Cananto, Ontario on March 16, 1939 to parents William and Emma. Al is survived by his wife of 40 years, Joyce; six biological children; six step children; numerous nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He is also survived by siblings Louis, Keitha, Merlin, Calvin, Stanley, Dorothy and Ken.  Al was predeceased by his parents William and Emma; and siblings Jule, Edna, Helen, Grace, Alvin, Maccie, and Elva. As an accomplished salesman, Al was presented with the General Motors Sales Marketing Guild Award from 1995-2000 consecutively, while employed at AMP Fort McMurray, Alberta.  Al was the brunt of many used car salesman jokes over the years.  Papa Al will be sadly missed by all including his toy poodle Keria, aka Shep, aka Lassie. Our sincere thanks to Dr. M. Schuck, the doctors and staff at the Tom Baker Centre, Calgary and the compassionate staff at the Oilfields General Hospital, Black Diamond, AB.

Memorial Service to be held at the Turner Valley Legion, 121 Sunset Blvd. East, Turner Valley, Alberta on Saturday, February 15, 2014  at 1:00 pm. Coffee, tea and knuckle sandwiches to follow. In lieu of flowers donations in Al’s memory can be made to the High River Legion, 25 Veterans Way 8th Avenue SE, High River, AB, T1V 1E8  to aid in the rebuilding.

I was extremely sorry to hear of Al's passing. Al and I worked together in Fort Mcmurray for many years and Al was a terrific salesman but more importantly a great and devoted family man. My sincere condolences go out to the family in this difficult time and I would add that Al will be missed by all that had the good fortune of crossing paths with him at some point in their life.
