PHILLIPS, Dorothy Belle

Dorothy Belle Phillips passed away on Monday, September 15, 2014, with her family by her side at the age of 97 years.

She was a native of North Battleford, Saskatchewan and later of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. She was a member of St. Andrews Presbyterian Church in Saskatoon and attended the United Church in Airdrie AB.

While residing in Saskatoon, Dorothy was an active member of the St. Johns Ambulance Corp., Canadian Legion Auxiliary, and the Pioneer Museum Activities committee and in her earlier years, the Albert School Community Center. After moving to Airdrie, AB., she joined and became an active member of Canadian Legion Post 288, where she attained a Life Member status.

She leaves behind to cherish her memories; her two sons, Keith Phillips (Ella) of St. Albert, AB, Ross Phillips (Kay) of Hampton, Virginia; two daughters, Beverly Bates of Nanaimo, BC and Dianne Phillips of Irricana, AB.; nine grandchildren, Gary Phillips, Dean Phillips (DeAnne), Wayne Bates, Donna Wilson, William (BJ) Bates, Mischelle Proctor (Terry), Joe Phillips, Wendy Koevoets, Randy Astels; her ten great grandchildren, Erin Phillips, Megan Phillips, Lucas Phillips, Jimmy Proctor, Kristy Barnhill (Ronnie), Heather Emond, Robyn Wilson, Lindsey Wilson, Cody Koevoets, Austin Koevoets; nine great- great grandchildren; her sister, Beatrice Thomson of Surrey, BC.; and her very dear and close friend, Jennifer Ingram of Airdrie, AB.  

Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Phillips; her parents, George and Matilda Young; two sisters and four brothers. Dorothy touched the hearts of so many of her family and friends.

Loving and kind in all her ways
Upright and just to the end of her days
Sincere and kind in heart and mind
What a beautiful memory she has left behind.

A Memorial Service celebrating Dorothy’s life will be held at St. Francis Assisi Church, 132 Albert Street, Airdrie, AB on Saturday, September 20, 2014, at 1:00 pm.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Dorothy’s name to the United Church, 216 – 1 Avenue NE, Airdrie, AB, T4B 0R4 or your favorite charity.
