It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Eileen Smith on Friday, October 31,2014 at the age of 88.  Eileen was born and raised in the Drumheller area and spent most of her career working as a Registered Nurse. Affectionately known as "Red", she loved dancing, travelling, card playing, curling, golfing and camping, but her biggest passion was spending time with her family and friends. She is survived by her loving sons, Bill (Mary Ann) of Grande Prairie and Daryl (Nikki) of Duncan B.C. ; grandchildren, Michael, Derrick, Breanne, Allannah, Shelby, Kaili and Colby; 5 great grandchildren; brother, Gilbert Lawrence; sister in-law, Doreen McLellan; the Kirby family and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Fred Smith; son, Larry Smith; sister, Margaret Bullen and loving partner, Jim Kirby. The family is truly thankful to the wonderful staff at the Sunshine Lodge and the Drumheller Hospital for the amazing care she received and special thanks to Tim and Shawna Vaisnis for their unconditional love and compassion. A Memorial Service will be held Thursday, November 6, 2014 at 1:00pm at the Knox United Church,195 – 3 Avenue E, Drumheller, AB. Reception to follow.  In lieu of flowers donations in Eileen’s memory may be made to the charity of your choice.
