SMITH, Micheal Norman
September 2, 1959 – June 19, 2014
It is with saddened hearts we announce the end of Micheal’s journey, peacefully in his home and in the arms of his loving family. Micheal leaves behind to forever cherish his memory his wife, Janice (Johnson); sons, Marcus, Connor and Taylor (Nesbitt-Johnson); mother, Dianna (Gerald Porter); father, Norman Brousseau; brother, Patrick Brousseau (Ana); sister, Dana; Grandpa, Jim Ferster and numerous aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, cousins and friends. Micheal’s love for the outdoors and the night sky was only surpassed by the love he had for his family and friends. He would be found on clear night skies gazing up at the stars, always ready to share his vision. Micheal, an avid cyclist and rollerblader, loved traveling to new destinations to ride and skate. Micheal embraced life and lived it to its fullest. Micheal had a passion for music and was a self-taught drummer, spending countless hours playing to the tunes of his favorite bands. Micheal was a competent, compassionate and caring nurse that positively impacted the lives of many patients throughout his career. He was an inspiration to his nursing family at Foothills Hospital and they will remember the wee hour discussions on music, space and politics. Known as a man, with great love for his children, he was also recognized for his wit and dry sense of humour, which included jokes only a few would love.
A special thanks to Donna and the Palliative Care Home Care team for their support and help keeping Micheal at home during this time. A Celebration of Micheal’s Life, and 55th Birthday, will be held with an Open House at the Bowness Scout and Lions Hall ( 8551 Bowness Rd N.W Calgary, AB) on Tuesday, September 2 , 2014 from 3:30 till 7:30 p.m.
Condolences may offered to the family at Micheals@telus.net. If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made directly to the Brain Tumour Foundation of Canada.
Janice, Marcus, Connor and Taylor it was an honor and privileged to work with Micheal. He brought an excited energy every day. I am blessed to know him. He showed me how to enjoy life, and embrace misfortune with dignity and grace. He was a shining example of a good man, husband and father. God Bless You.
