BUCHHOLZ, Ingrid Maria (nee Pronk)
August 7, 1957 – April 7, 2015
Beloved, courageous, and brilliant Ingrid Maria Buchholz passed away on the morning of Tuesday, April 7, 2015 with her beloved daughters, Julianne and Jenelle, by her side. She was a loving mother to Jenelle and Julianne (Sammy); a devoted wife to her husband, William; a cherished sister to M.L. Ellen Percival (David), Frank Pronk (Mary-Ann), and Robert Pronk (Leslie); and a loyal daughter to her mother Ria Dade, her stepfather Ward Dade, and her father Frans Pronk. She was also a treasured aunt to Brandon and Allison (Andrew), daughter-in-law to Joyce Buchholz, sister-in-law to Kim Berg (Wayne) and Robert Buchholz (Katie) and a precious friend to so many. As the Clinical Education Supervisor at Calgary Laboratory Services (CLS), and through her work at Alberta Business & Educational Services (ABES) and Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (SAIT), Ingrid has touched many lives and was dedicated to helping others achieve their dreams. Ingrid’s life has inspired those who knew her, and we will love her forever. Her legacy will live on in a memorial award created in her name by ABES. Her family thanks ABES for honoring and recognizing her dedication in this way.
Messages:
My deepest condolences to Bill, Julianne and Janelle on the loss of your wife and mother. As the Clinical Education Supervisor she was a great mentor for the students and preceptors.
It is with great shock that I received the passing away of Ingrid. Ingrid lived an exemplary life that touched many lives. IEMLTs(Internationally Educated Medical Laboratory Technologists) that related with Ingrid cannot forget her so soon for her dedicated and unalloyed support. It is my prayer that God will grant the family, friends and colleagues the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss. Ingrid you left us when you are most needed to give hope to the hopeless and build up the profession of Medical Laboratory Sciences. Ingrid you left a vacuum that will be difficult if not impossible to fill. May his gentle soul rest in perfect peace.
I am so sad to hear of Ingrid's passing. Ingrid recruited me to CLS in 2008 and I have enjoyed her warm smiles since then. She spoke with pride about her family and their accomplishments. My thoughts and prayers are with her family during this time off loss.
I'm greatly saddened to learn of Ingrid's leaving. She was a lovely person and a consummate medical laboratory professional. As a respected and beloved guide and mentor to many classes of MLT students who completed their practicum training under her supervision and leadership, she will be previously missed. My sincere condolences to her family and many friends.
Ingrid, I don’t know if there is anyone who could appreciate your worth better than someone like myself- an Internationally trained Medical Laboratory Scientist to whom you had been so kind, loving, generous and so gracious! You patiently and successfully showed me the way to professional practice in Canada! You have played diverse roles in my life- as a mentor, a recruiter, a colleague, a source of inspiration, a caretaker and a great friend! You were a “King Maker”! Death has done its worst - killed your body but couldn’t kill your spirit- courageous spirit, kind spirit, energetic spirit, willing spirit, loving spirit, industrious spirit, a “Yes” spirit that would never take No for an answer! All of these have become the legacies you will be remembered for Ingrid! Like I used to do whenever I phoned or sent e-mail to you, I want to say for the last time (I know you can hear me because your spirit lives on), THANK YOU, THANK YOU AND THANK YOU! The Medical Laboratory Community in Alberta and Canada as a whole has lost a brilliant and a rare gem! Can anyone step into your shoes? Bill, Julianne, Jenelle and Family, May God grant you the peace and the grace you need at this period of grieving and always. May her very kind and gentle soul rest in peace. Adieu Ingrid!
Bill, Julianne, Jenelle & Family, I am so very sorry to learn of Ingrid's passing. She was (and will remain in my heart) a beautiful and lovely person in every sense. My thoughts and prayers for peace and well being are with each of you as you move through this most difficult time. Den Crawford
Wayne and I were shocked and saddened to hear about Ingrid. Our thoughts are with the family during this sad and heartbreaking time. Ingrid was a beautiful person and I was happy to call her a friend.
I am so sorry to hear of Ingrid's passing. My thoughts are with you during this difficult time.
The reaction I had to the passing of Ingrid was one of overwhelming sadness. Although we didn't spend much time together in recent years working with her and sharing and office with her as part of the Education program at CLS allowed me to get to know her well. She spoke fondly of her daughters and hubby. You knew they were an important factor in her life. When I think of Ingrid the words that come to mind are: dedicated, kind, loving, helpful, always a ready smile, generous, committed to excellence, friendly, sociable, intelligent, wanting to do her best in all and many more. You could never walk past Ingrid without sharing a few chuckles and great conversation. She will be missed both as a committed Mom and spouse, wonderful lady and a dedicated employee. Her contributions to the world are many. Unfortunately her life has been cut short. I send my condolences and thoughts and prayers to Bill, Julianne and Jenelle and her extended family and friends.
The members of SAIT's ALIVE (Retired and Former SAIT employees and their spouses) extend their deepest sympathy.
