COFFEY, Margaret Barbara Coffey
September 7, 1915 - October 13, 2015
Margaret Barbara Coffey, age 100, of Okotoks, Alberta passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 13, 2015. She was born to parents, Nora and Eric Hart, September 7, 1915. Margaret is survived by her sister, Jean; sons, Ian (Ruth) of Auckland, New Zealand, Ray (Carol) of Okotoks, Alberta; grandchildren, Kirsten (Wymond), Laurel (Sean), Richard; and five great grandchildren, all of New Zealand. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank in 1993; and brother, Gerald. Her incredible life experience had spanned ten decades across four continents leading her to enjoy her last years in Canada. As a secondary school teacher in geography and English she was later thrilled to experience the many countries she taught about. The century of change that defined her life kept her interested, active and involved, and fuelled her quick wit and keen sense of humour. A lady who embraced life was inspired at age 88 to paint. Many of her acrylic and water colours were displayed and sold. Her lesson to all is ‘self discovery never stops.’
A Private Memorial Celebration will take place in Okotoks, Alberta on Saturday, October 24,2015 followed later by internment in New Zealand, her requested final resting place. We are grateful for the love, care and support received.
