It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Leonard (Hap) Edwards on September 4th, 2015 at the age of 90 in Calgary.
Hap is survived by his loving wife of 67 yrs, Mary; daughters: Penny Edwards, Lenora Lys (Terry), Karen Morrison (Geoff) and son Terry (Bev) Edwards; 7 grandchildren and 4 great grand children; special family friend, Connie Fessler; brother, Ken (Lee) Edwards; and numerous nieces and nephews and family. Hap is predeceased by his parents and nine siblings
Hap was born in Lestock, SK to Tom and Mary Edwards on Feb 21, 1925, one of eight boys and three girls. He began his schooling in Lestock and furthered his education at Notre Dame College in Wilcox, SK. There he played hockey with the Norte Dame Hounds and was drafted by the New York Rovers, farm team for the New York Rangers. A prairie boy at heart, he left NY to return to marry his high school sweetheart Mary. They settled in Melville, SK with Hap playing hockey and baseball for the Melville Millionaires for 15 yrs, started his career with Eaton’s and began a family. He was transferred to Swift Current in 1963 to be the manager of the Eaton’s department store, where he began an active life being involved in the community, raising his 4 children and playing hockey with the Swift Current Blues. He retired in 1987, continuing to enjoy golf, dancing, socializing and spending 22 years being snowbirds in Mesa, AZ with his wife Mary. Hap valued his family and friends above all else and was always very supportive of his children. He will be greatly missed.

karen and the entire edwards family, sorry to learn of hap's passing. although his physical stature could be somewhat intimidating to an awkward teenager (me), he was always very nice and kind when i had the opportunity to talk with him.
Penny, I'm so sorry to hear about your father's death. He and your mother were always so warm and welcoming when I used to visit their home. I think he really was a prince of a man. Condolences to you, your mom and your brother and sisters.
