Michel A Fortier
December 14th, 2015
March 5th, 1967 – December 14th, 2015
Michel was deeply loved. All who met and knew him were inspired by his optimism and amicable nature. These qualities drew people to him. To see Michel was to see the finest example of how to enjoy life. He could put anyone at ease with his sense of humour and quick wit. Michel took everything in stride which made anyone in his company comfortable and accepted. A true fan of U2, Michel made one of his dreams come true and found the famous “Joshua Tree” during one of his many trips to Las Vegas. Michel is survived by his wife, Carol Ann Yaremy whom he married October 24th, 2015 in Mont Tremblant, Quebec after twenty “happily unmarried” years together. It was a perfect day even more beautiful than either could have dreamed. He was so happy to be surrounded by family, friends and love. Also surviving are his parents, Cecile and Andre Fortier; his brother and sisters and their spouses, Normand L. and Suzanne, Louise A. and Jocelyn, Sylvie Marie and Denise all of Montreal, Quebec; cherished nieces; nephews; aunts; uncles; cousins; parents-in-law, Gene and Tina Yaremy; his brother-in-law, Brent as well as so many friends! Although cancer related complications took his life, the illness never defined Michel. He faced the challenges of the disease with grace. Michel was thankful to all health care professionals who gave him hope and strength through each step he faced and cared for him over the last 6 years. In lieu of flowers, Michel would appreciate your help in continuing cancer research through your donations to the Canadian Cancer Society – Quebec Division, 5151 De l’assomption Blvd., Montreal, Quebec, H1T 4A9. A Celebration of Michel’s Life will be planned at a later date.

Dear Carol Ann & Family My deepest condolences on your loss. May you find comfort in the memories and happiness that you all shared with him. I have such a broken heart in loosing this precious gem of a human being. Michel helped me through my journey and made everything easier for me. Making and helping me stay positive and always bringing a smile to my face while he faced his own challenges. I spoke highly of him to all my friends "I called him the gem" and forever will cherish the friendship I had. God has a new friend now and that brings peace to my heart. Ascelza Esposito from Toronto
Dear Carol Ann and Cecile and Andre Fortier & Family. As it has been said by so many, at times like this words never seem to cover the true feelings of a loss of one extremely close and dear. But the loss of some one who lived his life with the courage and drive to live life like Michel, as many have said, can only leave a legacy that can be cherished. It says volumes of his deep feeling that he held for you Carol Ann and his Dad, Mom & family. He has left a desire for and a value for life that we can only strive to achieve. Our prayers are with you all for strength and a the remembering of happy memories of his life that he has shared with you. I have always held the belief that those that pass from our lives live on in the eternal brightness of the individual stars of the evening sky. Life is energy and I believe energy never dies. Look up, he is there. Love Norman & Sherry
