KING, Norman Allan
1935 - 2015
With great sorrow, we announce the passing of Norm on Monday, July 20, 2015 at the Beverly Center in Calgary. He had varied interests and careers in his storied lifetime. He was a member of the United States Air Force during the Korean War. After his active duty, he worked as a horse trainer in a stable in the United States, thus his love of the track! He was a major league prospect as a pitcher, coached in the Major League ranks, and was a scout for many years with the Seattle Mariners. Previous to his failing health, Norm spent many years in Canada working with players on the art of pitching. He will be sadly missed by those whose lives he touched, especially his long time friend, Al. We are grateful to the staff at the Beverly Center who cared so lovingly for Norm.
I met Norm in the early 80s when I was involved with the Big League baseball program in Calgary. Norm was only too willing to pass on his baseball knowledge, especially the art of pitching. With his contacts, he was instrumental in providing opportunities for a number of boys, including my son, for furthering their baseball careers and education at colleges in the USA. Rest in peace Norm. Stan, Darlene and Stacy
