Agnes "Nancy" Liddell Marriott

May 24th, 2015

MARRIOTT, Nancy

Nancy Marriott, wife of the late Richard Marriott, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 24, 2015, in Calgary, at the age of 91. She was born of Scottish immigrant parents, Alexander and Catherine Fowler in Calgary, on Nov. 25,1923.

She is survived by two daughters, Lesley Balfour (Darrell) of Calgary and Anne Cockeram (Alan) of Rothesay, N.B.; five grandchildren, Janice Balfour, David Balfour and Naomi Balfour (Scotty Floyd) all of Calgary, Heather Long (Graham) of Quispamsis, N.B. and Chris Cockeram (Jill) of Toronto; five great grandchildren, Tayven Balfour, Hannah Balfour-Floyd of Calgary, and Noah, Isaac and Hannah Long of Quispamsis, N.B.; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Nancy cherished spending time with her family and friends, especially playing games (go fish, crib and jacks) and giggling with the girls. She dedicated much of her life to helping and caring for family and friends, particularly her husband, Dick in his later years. She enjoyed working for many years as a secretary at Haddon Road Elementary School. Music and singing were a passion of hers and she was a member of the Chinook Winds Chorus in her younger days. Nancy enjoyed baking and sharing her creations and she has passed down her delicious recipes to her family. She was very active at St. Andrew's United Church and in fitness classes at the YMCA.

A favorite quote of Nancy's was: "Life is a journey, complete it." Well done Nancy. Your outstanding journey is now complete.

For those who wish, in lieu of flowers, donations in Nancy’s name may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, #200, 325 Manning Road NE, Calgary, AB, T2E 2P5. A Memorial Service for immediate family will be held at a later date.

Messages:

Hi Lesley & Anne I was very sad to hear about your Mother's passing. We had such fun times when I overnighted and visited your home while we were in high school - lots of games of Yahtzee! And going to the SPEBQSA concerts and learning all about the singing. And of course who could forget the Red Cross and how we tried to raise money for it. The smell of lilacs always reminds me of the Marriott family - my Mom grew sweat peas but you had the lilacs. Fond regards to you both and your families. Maralyn

I was sad to read about your mum's passing and wanted to send my condolences. I remember your mother as such a wonderful person and a great neighbour to my mother. I am sure that you will have wonderful memories of her and your father.
