Ronald "Ron" Wesley McGonigle

December 29th, 2015

McGONIGLE, Ronald Wesley
May 7, 1948 Turner Valley, AB ~ December 29, 2015 Airdrie, AB

With sadness we announce the passing of our generous, kind hearted and much loved husband, father and papa. Ron always put family first and he recently celebrated 45 years of marriage to his soulmate, Joyce.  He was a loving father to Stacey (Rob Marr), Elaine (Christian Steinbock), and Leah (Tory Whiteside). This holiday season was a difficult but cherished time, as he battled with cancer, Ron will be remembered for his inner strength to rally and awaken for his grandchildren on the eve of Christmas, Rory, Kai, Avery, Jude, Marlowe and Arden. Ron was predeceased by his father, mother, and sister - William, Beatrice and Gail. Ron began his career with Canadian Western Natural Gas (ATCO) in 1967, where he held multiple roles over 37 years.  In 1979, he chose to leave the out-of-town crews, and be with his family as an Agency Serviceman in Crossfield.  In 1997, Ron and Joyce moved to Airdrie and shortly after retired with a close network of friends and neighbors.  Most comfortable traveling in their trailer in the summer, Ron and Joyce enjoyed taking their grandchildren on unforgettable camping trips. Never selfish, always loving and kind...these are the memories Ron will leave behind.

A Celebration of Ron’s Life will be held at the Crossfield Community Centre, 900 Mountain Ave, Crossfield, AB on Wednesday, January 6, 2016 at 2:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be in Ron’s memory to the Foothills Country Hospice (www.countryhospice.org), PO Box 274, Okotoks, AB, T1S 1A5 or Lung Cancer Canada (www.lungcancercanada.ca), #315, 10 St. Mary Street, Toronto, ON, M4Y 1P9.
