It is with great sadness that, after a long and valiant battle with cancer, we announce the passing of our loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, Elsie Scheidt on Thursday, December 10, 2015 in Calgary, Alberta. Elsie was born August 12, 1931 in Chipman, Alberta.  She was the youngest child and only daughter of Sam and Dora Hrehirchek.

Elsie is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Walter; her 4 children, Barbara (Barry) Fox of Calgary, Laura Lee (Wayne) Hrabok of Didsbury, Darrell (Karen) Scheidt of Didsbury and Carol (Tom) Hadway of Didsbury.  Elsie was a loving grandmother and wonderful cook who will be sorely missed by her 9 cookie eating grandchildren, Megan Fox (Ben Heisler) of Calgary, Cassandra Hrabok (Jeff McKinnon) of Evanberg, Lindley Hrabok of Red Deer, Cole Scheidt (Lauren Walsh) of Red Deer, Rebecca Scheidt of Didsbury, Dayna Hadway (Caith Cameron) of Didsbury, Will Hadway of Didsbury, Andie Hadway of Calgary, Josie Hadway of Didsbury and her 3 great grandchildren, who were proud cookie eaters in training, Blake and Jhett Hrabok of Evansberg and Carter Cameron of Didsbury.  She will be also be missed by her numerous nieces, nephews and their families.  Elsie was predeceased by her mother and father, Sam and Dora; and her four brothers, Wlademir, William, Peter and Edward.

Elsie’s family would like extend their sincerest thanks to the doctors and staff at the Rosedale Hospice for the loving care and kindness that Elsie received while a patient there and for the support that was given to each and every member of the family during this difficult time.  Special thanks is also extended to the staff of the Fanning Centre in Calgary for their wonderful support of Walter during Elsie’s illness, to the community of Didsbury and to our supportive and caring cousins and friends.   

A Celebration of Elsie’s Life will be held on Wednesday, December 16, 2015 at 11:00 am at Knox United Church, 1100 - 20 Avenue, Didsbury, AB. A Private Interment will follow. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Elsie’s memory to Rosedale Hospice, 920 – 7A Street NW, Calgary, AB, T2M 3J4.

We will miss Elsie, our dear friend for so many years. Our deepest sympathy goes out to Walter and her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and to all her extended family and many friends. We will hold her memory in our hearts and treasure it always.

Hugs and sympathy to Walter and families. We did not know Elsie had passed on until we saw the funeral card in the post office, after . Elsie was a great lady and all the families go way back when Bert was leading the local 4 H club. The Scheidt families hold a special place in our 4H memories. Elsie's memories are now special treasures to be held by the families .

My thoughts go out to Walter and family. Elsie will be missed dearly - she was always wonderful to be around, thoughtful and lovely. She will remain in our hearts forever.

Dear Walter & Family, I was so sorry to see Elsie's funeral card when in town after the funeral was over. My heart felt sympathy goes out to all of you and to all who knew and loved her. I recall the early years when our children were in school & we had & took time to visit together once in awhile. She was always such a sweet lady. May your treasured memories bring you much comfort to soften the blows of the winds of sorrow. May each new day bring loving care to you & your little ones.

Our deepest sympathy is sent to you Walter, and all of your family at this time. Elsie was a kind and gentle woman who touched many lives with her warmth and love. I have so many wonderful memories of her that I will always cherish. May her memory be eternal. Josephine and family

Our deepest sympathies to all of the Scheidt family as Elsie was a wonderful, kind, caring and truly gracious lady! The Scheidt family will always hold a warm spot in our hearts as our parents were great friends for a long time. Will miss her beautiful smile and gentle ways!! May your precious memories of her bring you some comfort in the days ahead!!
