George Sherret Taylor was born November 8, 1919 in Medicine Hat, AB, the second child to George and Helen Taylor. The family moved to Carstairs in 1935. George loved spending time at his uncle’s farm North of Madden. During WWII, Uncle Bern Taylor left this Madden farm to go and working the shipyards in Victoria, BC. George was left in charge of the farm, enabling him to pursue his love of farming, and especially horses. He married Jennie Mahood, and together they raised 8 children and started a dairy farm. After retirement, George and Jennie spend some time travelling and visiting family and friends. Failing health forced them to move to Aspen Ridge Lodge in 2012. George passed away on Wednesday, October 21, 2015 at the age of 95 years.
George is lovingly remembered by his sisters, Margret Mitchell and Joyce Paeth; children, Dan (Dawn), Colleen, Carol (Jim), Barry, Brian (Judy), Michael (Joni), Eric (Elsie), Maureen (Wayne); 22 grandchildren; 35 great grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his grandson, Shawn Taylor; daughter-in-law, Lois Taylor; and wife, Jennie.
A Funeral Service was held at the Carstairs Evangelical Missionary Church on Monday, October 26, 2015. Interment has occurred at Carstairs Cemetery.
