CRAWFORD, Rudolph (Rudy) Sigismund
March 16, 1920 – February 3, 2016

It is with mixed blessings that we announce the gentle passing of Rudolph Crawford after a strong 95 years. Rudy will be remembered by his five children in their own way, especially son, David and daughter, Grace and greatly missed by his friend and caregiver, Adele Dirks and his “adopted” grandchildren, Deanna Dirks and Ashleigh Dirks.

A sincere Thank You to the nursing and administrative staff at the Bethany Care Centre, Calgary. No service will be held. Cremation is arranged through Alternatives Funeral and Cremation Services.  His ashes will be returned to his home country of Jamaica at a future date.

Messages:

I learned today of Rudy's passing. He lived a wonderful life. I first met Rudy back in the early 1980s when he was the property manager in the apartment building I first moved into after leaving home. Rudy invited me over for dinner many times, serving ginger beet & many delicious Jamaican dishes. I stayed in touch with Rudy on & off over the years & always enjoyed visiting with him. I will miss you dearly Mr. Rudy Crawford. Love Marie

Rudy was a wonderful encouragement and blessing to me as we spent much time in Scripture and prayer. We loved singing together, even when he was lying flat in his bed. His favourite chorus was from his childhood--"Hold Fast to Jesus". Rudy is now rejoicing with the angels! Thank you, Adele, for looking after my dear friend.

My thoughts and prayers to the family. Rudy used to come to the little store that I work at in east village when he resided in Murdoch Manor. He always had the funniest jokes and the nicest stories to tell me. I will always remember how he made me laugh. I have thought about him quite a bit as I never knew where he had gone after leaving Murdoch. I read the article in the paper today and this broke my heart. My deepest sympathies to his family. Rudy will always be my cousin Rudy. I will continue to miss him.
