Donald (Bohdan) Kohuch

August 15th, 2016

Peacefully, with his family by his side, and after a courageous battle with Cancer, Don joined his daughter Kelly in heaven on August 15, 2016.

Don was born in Mears, Manitoba in the municipality of Rossburn in 1933 into a large Ukrainian homesteading family of 13 children.   Don married Irene Strilecky in 1957 and recently celebrated their 59th  wedding anniversary in June.   They moved to Calgary in 1965. Don  held numerous labour jobs throughout his life and also owned his own landscaping company.  Don's love of the land was always part of his life, he enjoyed camping and was an avid hunter.  After  retirement, he spent numerous years seeding and harvesting in Saskatchewan and assisting his hunting partners on their elk farm in Alberta.  Don's love for family and the importance of Ukrainian heritage was evidenced by his attendance at the numerous family gatherings which nurtured deep family ties.

Don was predeceased by his parents Anastasia and Alec Kohuch, his daughter Kelly Diciano as well as brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews.  Remaining to cherish his memory are his wife Irene; his daughters Teresa Pridham (Wade), Deanna Rigoni (Steve) and son-in-law Tom Diciano; his grandchildren Tyler Pridham, Tyra Diciano, Curtis Pridham (Ali Goldie), Paige Rigoni and Morgan Rigoni; his sisters Anne, Mary, Stella,Mildred; brothers Terry, Walter and their families.

Our family sincerely thanks those who cared for Don; Dr Mary Noiles, as well as to the Doctors and Palliative Care Facilitators at the Tom Baker Cancer Centre and all the staff at the Southwood Calgary Hospice.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Don's memory to the Tom Baker Cancer Centre, 1331 - 29 Street NW, Calgary, AB, T2N 4N2 (attention Alberta Cancer Foundation).

A celebration of life, officiated by Rev. Marie Grabek, will be held on August 26, 2016 at 1:30 p.m. at the Sierras of Evergreen located at 15 Everstone Drive SW Calgary (entry through door A).
