Sherry Lynn MacKenzie
September 20th, 2016
MacKenzie, Sherry Lynn (nee Gerlitz)
Sherry began her life journey on April 21, 1955 in Calgary, AB and said goodbye peacefully on September 20, 2016 in Didsbury, AB, her home for most of her life. Sherry touched the hearts of all she knew; none more than Wade, her loving husband of 43 years; and her cherished children; daughter, Susan (Lyall); son, Allen (Kristina), their children Elizabella and Emma, Sherry's treasured granddaughters. Sherry was predeceased by her grandparents; parents, Ivan and Donna; sister, Laurie; and other family members. Sherry enriched the lives of her seven siblings and their spouses, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family, friends, co-workers and acquaintances.
A consummate mother and homemaker, Sherry was an excellent cook and baker. She enjoyed preparing meals for her family and friends. Over the years Sherry created her own Christmas tradition of sharing her passion for baking and demonstrating her generous nature by gifting many people with her famous Christmas trays, over-flowing with goodies sprinkled with love. Sherry wore many hats. She never missed a beat when swapping her chef's hat for her hard hat. She took off her apron and jumped into her work boots and grabbed her lunchbox filled with her peanut butter and dill pickle sandwiches and her Mars Bars. Sherry loved her job working for Mountain View County for over 20 years, and looked forward to climbing aboard the big-boy toys that she handily operated for many years. The void in our hearts and lives will slowly heal with the comfort, love and support we will provide for one another.
A Celebration of Sherry’s Life will be held at the Zion Evangelical Missionary Church, Didsbury, AB on Wednesday, September 28, 2016 at 2:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Sherry’s memory to the Children's Wish Foundation, AB & NWT Office, #270, 2323 – 32 Avenue NE, Calgary, AB, T2E 6Z3.
