MALICK, Lynda

Lynda Elaine Malick passed away suddenly at home on Thursday, January 7, 2016, at the age of 62.  She is survived by her common law husband of 19 years, Hugh O’Rourke; son, Kirk Malick of Airdrie, AB;  daughter and son-in-law, Lori and Tom Donnelly of Crossfield, AB; her mother, Rita Bendfeld (Camrose); brothers and sisters, Norbert (Loreen), Roger (Gail), Larry (Vera), Anne (Doug), Jim (Rose), Theresa (Jerry) and Grant (Renee); as well as many nieces and nephews.  Lynda was predeceased by her husband, Dale; and her father, Arnold Bendfeld.

Lynda, known dearly by her family and close friends as “Boots” or “Momma Boots”, was the best Mother and friend anyone could ask for and she was a Mom figure to many.  She loved and cared about everyone and was always wanting to help out as much as she could.  Lynda was an amazing cook and her homemade perogies will be truly missed by all.  She will be lovingly remembered for her funny stories, caring nature, and strong desire to help others.

Lynda’s favorite past time was golfing and she looked forward to her annual golf trip to Palm Springs.  Lynda would enthusiastically start counting down the days for the next trip back as soon as the plane hit the tarmac on the return flight home.

A Memorial Service will be held at the Crossfield Community Hall, Crossfield, AB on Saturday, January 16, 2016 at 1:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations made in Lynda’s memory to the Airdrie Food Bank, 20 East Lake Way NE, Airidrie, AB, T4A 2J3. Cremation has taken place.

Messages:

My deepest sympathies for your loss. I had the pleasure of knowing Lynda through a work relationship via my previous employer. Although we never met in person, I considered her to be a friend. Her amazing ability to reach out and make friends was effortless, and before I knew it we were sending jokes to one another, laughing and chatting on the phone like old friends. I changed jobs in December, and true to her word Lynda and I kept in touch with a few emails. Lynda was truly an amazing lady and made this world a better place simply by being herself. Sending my love, thoughts and prayers to you all.

Please accept our heartfelt condolences. We knew Lynda through her tireless and dedicated work with Jim, and were proud and happy to call her part of our team. She always had a smile, asked how we were doing, and went above and beyond to look after us - while also taking time to share Palm Springs stories. Lynda, you left this world too soon...

I remember a time when I saw you Kirk through our new home window on Smith Avenue in Crossfield playing catch a ball with your dad Dale many moons ago. I heard your laughter, saw your happy faces! Life was awesome then! My children were little. I have many memories of yous. Many years have gone by. I remember well how Lynda your mom and your dad Dale held hands together as they went out on a date one night. They looked so nice and happy together. I still see their faces. Then one day..your dad left us! I heard Lori in your yard. The sadness and cries. Your dad went "home" to soon!! I loved and admired your beautiful mom; she was a sweetheart. I have not seen her since we all left Crossfield many many years ago... Lori and Kirk...my deepest condolences and many hugs.Your mom will be missed. My prayers and thoughts are with you both. Until we meet again Lynda! Rest in peace. See you at the Heaven's gates someday. Thank you for touching my life and being a great neighbor, for making me smile and for making me realize how precious this short life really is. I know Angels are watching over you. From my family to yours..sleep well girl..the ocean levels will rise tonight from all my tears as I read you left us. I heard God's call to type your name into my search(out of the blue) and your beautiful face popped up. Ahh how I will miss you!! Thanks for touching my life. Sleep well.
