On behalf of our families, words cannot express how touched and thankful we are to everyone who offered support and kindness following Darrin's passing. Your expression of sympathy through kind words, cards, flowers, delivered food, gifts and so many monetary donations are sincerely appreciated and we thank you during this difficult time.
Thank you as well to all who attended the Celebration of Darrin's Love of Life and to Alternatives Funeral Services for their professional care, compassion and wonderful service. A special thanks to STARS and amazing staff at Foothills ICU. Finally, we send extra thanks to all the special rodeo friends and families in the Professional Rodeo Association and CWHRA. The journey of this path will be followed in support of our cowboys who have touched his and our lives throughout the years. God Bless your paths. Obituary
Darrin Maxwell passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, February 21, 2016 at the age of 35 years at the Foothills Hospital. Darrin is lovingly remembered by his parents, Dale and Bonnie; brother, Dusty (Brit); sister, Kayla (Benn); the love of his life, Katie; nephews and nieces, Coden, Savanna and Colton as well as numerous other relatives and friends. Darrin enjoyed his career as a welder, loved camping, fishing, hunting, quading, horseback riding, the great outdoors as well as getting together with family and friends. His passion in life was rodeo! Darrin was known for always making friends and was never known to have lost a friend.
A Celebration of Darrin's Life will be held at the Crossfield Community Center, 900 Mountain Ave, Crossfield, AB on Thursday, February 25, 2016 at 1:00 PM. The family would like to say a special thank you to S.T.A.R.S and the staff at the Foothills Hospital ICU.

It is amazing how our minds can store fantastic memories, even as time passes and you run into that friend and after a short or long period of time goes by - they are a breath of fresh air and it's like you picked up where you left off the last time you saw them. Darrin was that friend - always kind, the warmest smile and he sure could dance!! May you be spinning a few of those Angels around the dance floor in heaven. Always remembered! My family and I lived next door to you on the acreage and I have fond memories of horseback riding and jumping on the trampoline with Darrin, Kayla and Dusty. Darrin was always so friendly and welcoming. Just a wonderful person all around and a pleasure to be with! My family sends their condolences; Margarita, Goyo and I. Very sad to hear this news about Darrin. Our paths have not crossed for many years, but it is impossible to forget him. His laughter was contagious and his zest for life was unbound. He was truly an authentic, kind and humble man. My heart goes out to his family and friends. He was one of a kind, and I am thankful to have known him.

Dale, Bonnie, Dustin and Kayla. We were so shocked and in utter disbelief when we heard about Darrin's passing. We have known all of you for so many years. Our kids grew up together and we had some great times together. We had so many laughs on our camping trips together with Darrin being the instigator most of the time. We will never forget him or his laughter or the permanent smile he always had on his face and he gave the greatest hugs. I am very sorry to learn of Darrin's sudden death. My daughter and I met Darrin during the summer of 2015 while he was working in Two Hills. He hung out with us, sharing many laughs, beers and good times. He was never afraid to pop in at our house at any time, even if it meant bringing his dog Duchess. Though we didn't know Darrin for a very long period of time, he made a big impact on our lives. He was always happy to be with us and so easy to get along with. He didn't even get mad about the kids putting makeup on him while he was sleeping (exhausted from a long weekend of rodeoing)! We will be thinking about Darrin and missing his big smile during this year's rodeo season. We are so very saddened to hear about Darrin's passing. Our condolences to the family. Rest easy Cowboy.

This is a terrible loss. What a great guy. It has been years since I have seen Darrin, he was an incredible dancer. If you were standing at the side of the dance floor he would pull you up to dance and never miss a beat. He was to young to leave us here on earth. Heaven will be a huge dance floor for him. I only knew Darrin for a short time but he will be greatly missed in and out of the rodeo arena! Our Heavenly Father, we pause at this time, mindful of the many blessings you have bestowed upon us. We ask, Lord, that you will be with us in the arena of life. We as cowboys do not ask for special favors. We don't ask to draw around the chute fighting horse, the steer that won't lay, or to never break the barrier. We don't even ask for all daylight runs. Really there are no word's, to help cope with the loss of a loved one. Darrin was one of a kind for sure, a total ladies man ;),, we first met Darrin at the Crossfield Rodeo, it was a great night, him and my son Kyle hit it off, they might not have been the best of friends but Darrin always knew Kyle was there for him, and Darrin for Kyle, The world is gonna miss his antics, his humor, and his smile. And the rodeo circuit will NEVER be the same without you Darrin. May peace be with you all, at this time, and forever. We will never forget you Darrin. Love and Prayers to you all..
