MORRIS, Olive Irene
February 20, 1923 – November 26, 2016
It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, auntie and friend, Olive Morris. Olive passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at the Foothills Hospital at the age of 93 years. Olive was born the ninth of twelve children in 1923 in Olds, Alberta and her family relocated to Shepherd not long thereafter. In 1944 Olive met her best friend, Gordon Morris and they were married in August of that year. They settled in Airdrie where they were very active members of the community over the years. Olive and Gordon’s life was full of joy and love. Together, they worked, volunteered, travelled camped, curled, bowled, baked, played cards, kept beautiful gardens, walked, and danced – all while lovingly raising a family. Olive and Gordon enjoyed walks around Airdrie hand in hand until his passing in 1994. Olive was an incredible baker and cooked an incredible holiday dinner. Nothing brought her more joy than seeing her family together.
Olive led with love. Olive loved hugs, whether they be from her own family or her large extended family in the community. Olive loved her church and God. Olive loved to help. Above all, Olive loved her family.
Olive is lovingly remembered by her three children, Norman (Wendy) Morris, Dianne (Don) Savage and Dale (Val) Morris; six grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends as well as her last remaining sister, Vera Schram; and sister-in-law, Marion Morris. Family and friends were the light of Olive’s life and visits from loved ones truly made Olive’s day. A Celebration of Olive’s Life will be held at the Airdrie United Church, 212 – 1st Avenue NE, Airdrie, AB on Friday, December 2, 2016 @ 2:00 pm. The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and caregivers who provided Mom with such compassionate care while at Bethany Care, Airdrie. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made to the charity of their choice.Messages:
