It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of George Robert Urquhart. George was born on May 6, 1934 in Montreal, Quebec to Angus & Elizabeth Urquhart and was the youngest of 5 children, Alice, Audrey, Dorothy & Shirley. George served in the Korean War and after returning had a storied career at The Queen Elizabeth Hotel for over 30 years until he retired in 1997. After a brief retirement, George decided to join the Montreal Casino as an investigator and after 4 years decided to fully retire in 2001. There was nothing George enjoyed more than spending time with family and friends and playing a round of golf.

In 2009 George was diagnosed with cancer, and after 7 hard fought years, he finally succumbed to the disease on Tuesday, September 20, 2016 in Calgary, Alberta. George will be sadly missed by his loving wife, Bea of 53 years; his 6 children, Gwen (Walter), Kevin, Susan, John (Wendy), Robert, and Scott (Lila) along with numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces & nephews; as well as his two sisters, Audrey & Dorothy.

As per George’s request, no formal service will be held.
