Messages:

Dear Vi & Family My deepest sympathy is extended to you all at this time. God Bless! Cathy Grimsdale, Innisfail Ab

I always enjoyed visiting with Don and admired his love of sports and support of the many teams he watched at the Carstairs and Crossfield arenas. He was very proud of his family and grandchildren and that allowed him more time to watch sports. He was kind and was admired for his many years of service at the seed cleaning plant. My condolences to the family.

Dear Auntie Vi, Allan & Christine, Dwayne & Michelle and all your families, Our hearts go out to you all in the loss of uncle Don and we pray for you in your time of sorrow. Uncle Don's gentle and friendly nature along with his unique chuckle (giggle) and the sparkle in his eyes made him so very lovable. That's what I remember. And, I recall how he lit up when he talked about his family, so, there was no doubt that it was most important to him. A man of deep conviction and integrity. I'm sorry I can't partake in the funeral service because I've got a very bad cold/flu that's getting worse instead of better. I also don't want to spread it to you. I'll be thinking of you and saying a prayer. Sincerest condolences, Laurie and Al Stempfle

Mr. Van Bavel was one of the kindest men I have ever met. I don't think I know anyone else that would have watched more live hockey anywhere as a hobby. Anyone who knew him will miss his knowledge of the game and always up for a good discussion on any local or NHL team. His boisterous laugh would certainly follow up any chat as he encouragingly pointed out how well you played in the last game and that he's certain another league championship was in the making. Fondly remembered!!!
