Kara Lynne Frandsen

FRANDSEN, Kara Lynne
July 8, 1948 ~ July 4, 2017

Kara Lynne Frandsen passed away peacefully at the Rockyview General Hospital on Tuesday, July 4, 2017 surrounded by her family. She is lovingly remembered by her children, Dean, Kim and Cory (Lisa); grandchildren, Riley, Ella, Lauren and Tyler; siblings, Patsy, Gus, Floyd and Cindy; many nieces and nephews and extended family and many friends.

Kara Lynne started her career as a nurse and worked with ARBI's with the brain injured and worked with the home health care system. Her best friend 'Titan' was always there by her side in the car to and from her clients. She tried her hand at catering and really enjoyed being a part of people's special days.

She was dedicated to community service throughout her lifetime and she received many awards:
* Dedicated to district two block watch 1988-1995
* Achievement award for contributions to the Roscarrock Community 1989-1991
* Outstanding Contribution to Crime Prevention 1994.

Her hands were always busy. Crocheting crafting sewing she loved to make things to give to people. The fall was always a busy time for canning and jarring. She'd make her own pickles jams jellies which were all wonderful.

Kara Lynne's love of animals was unrivalled. Dogs, cats, birds, rabbits, fish, gerbils, guinea pigs, you name it she'd take them all in. They were given the best home with all the love that comes with it. Her lovebirds Kinta and Chinoko lived for over thirty years by her side. She loved to play in the dirt. One of her greatest pleasures was gardening. It made her so happy to work on her plants and flowers. She found happiness with Hardy Hansen and one of their favourite things to do was decorate for the holidays. There Xmas light display even garnering them an award. They took great pride and joy knowing the smiles their efforts put on people's faces during the holidays.

She loved to cook and the Sunday family dinner was always a special event. I've yet to see anyone's Yorkshire puddings rise taller than hers. She loved lobster and couldn't wait for the summer every year when Ivan would fly in some live from the east coast. She had a sweet tooth and she always enjoyed stampede time when candy floss, mini donuts and candy apples were plentiful.

Kara Lynne courageously battled and won breast and ovarian cancers in her lifetime. Kara's final battle with bowel cancer left her in pain and COPD was a war she couldn't win. Being there for her family was so important to her that she endured years of suffering and fought day after day trying to not say goodbye. We take great comfort to know that her pain has ended and that she is in peace. Kara Lynne had the biggest heart and she would do anything for anyone without thinking about herself. She would do anything for her children. She always made sure that everyone was taken care of whether she could afford it or not other people's needs and wants were more important to her than her own. In Kara Lynne’s memory, donations may be made to the SPCA (Calgary Humane Society), 4455 – 110 Avenue SE, Calgary, AB, T2C 2T7.
