Mr. Ray Hannah passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 18, 2017 in Didsbury, AB at the age of 85 years. Ray was born October 28, 1931 in Acme, AB to Fred and Julia Hannah and was the 3rd son in the family of 6 sons and one daughter.
He was an active member of the United Grain Growers Association, Lone Pine Hall, Didsbury Curling Club, Elks of Canada, Olds Royal Canadian Legion, the Southern AB Curling Association, and a founding member of the Didsbury Farmers` Bonspiel. Ray was a committed donor at the Canadian Blood Services receiving his 75th donation certificate.
Ray devoted his life to farming. He has farmed in the Neapolis area since 1962. During those farming years, Ray milked cows, raised hogs, chickens, AQHA horses and cattle. Ray’s passion for raising cattle resulted in a lifetime membership in the Canadian Angus Association. Ray also grew many acres of grain and hay.
Ray is lovingly remembered by his wife of 39 years, Joan; daughter, Debbie McMann and grandchildren, Shawn and Carla, son, Rodney Hannah (Jo-Anne) and grandchildren, Stacey and Wade; son, John Hartnett (Maureen) and grandchildren, Rachele, Angela and Jessica; and daughter, Heather Rylance and grandchildren, Bradley, Courtney, Lindsey, and Gregery; 9 great grandchildren; Ray’s brothers, Albert (Myrna) and Stanley (Sandy); sister, Lucyann Daubert (Ken); 3 sisters-in-law, and numerous nieces and nephews. Ray is predeceased by his parents Fred and Julia and brothers, Bruce, Robert, and Glen.
As per Ray’s wishes, cremation will take place and his remains will be laid to rest in Acme, AB near his parents. A Celebration of Ray’s Life will be held at the Didsbury Elks Hall, 1914 – 20 Street, Didsbury, AB on Tuesday, October 24, 2017 from 1:00 – 3:00 pm. All who knew him are welcome to join the family.
