HOLROYD, George "Gale"
November 21, 1942 – December 29, 2017
George “Gale” Holroyd was born in Lethbridge, Alberta to Eleanor Katherine (Moffat) and Dean Edward Holroyd. He was raised in Warner, Alberta on the family farm, which was originally settled by his grandfather. After graduating from Warner Consolidated School, he attended the University of Alberta in the Faculty of Agriculture. He joined John Deere Canada in 1963 as a territory manager and married his high school sweetheart, Beverly Mae (Morton), shortly after, on July 18, 1964. Gale is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Bev; his children Dean (Jill), Jayna (Howard Bolinger), Kevin (Sue); his 8 beloved grandchildren; and his brother Gary (Dinny).
Gale loved to spend time with his grandkids, watch the birds in his back yard, golf, fish, build things in his workshop, and travel anywhere and everywhere. He enjoyed visiting with the many friends that he made while living in a variety of cities across the country, including Warner, Calgary, Edmonton, Grand Prairie, Kelowna, Dauphin, Regina, and Abbottsford. Despite the frequent moves, Gale was very committed to every community he lived in. During his life, Gale was a Lion, a Rotarian, served on the Mountain District council with Scouts Canada in Manitoba, and was an active member of the United Church. Gale was also proud of the agriculture industry he worked in throughout his career. In addition to a house full of John Deere memorabilia, he was President of the Agriculture Implement Association and a Director of Canada’s Outstanding Young Farmer Program.
Memorial contributions can be made to the Woodcliff United Church, 5010 Spruce Drive SW, Calgary, AB, T3C 3B2.

What a shock! So very sorry to hear of Gale's passing. Gale was active in Gladwin Heights United Church before moving to Alberta. He was a part of the men's group and even after the move met up with the men's group for the annual fishing trip. Our condolences to Bev and the family. Daryl and Ellen Alstad
Dear Bev and family, My sincerest condolences on your great loss of your husband, father, grandfather and brother.
My deepest condolences to Bev and the family..... very sorry to hear of Gale's sudden passing. Just reflecting when you were living in Dauphin, and I was the appointed John Deere chauffeur while Gale was recovering from this broken leg. Sure did enjoy having dinners with Dean, Kevin and Jayna, (they were so entertaining). Lucky again to hook up for a few years in Regina. Thinking of you and your family at this sad time and wishing each you peace and comfort.
Bev and family, I am so so sorry to hear of Gale's passing. It is such a shock. I truly enjoyed getting know him at Woodcliff. He was a kind, gentle and remarkable soul. He will be missed greatly. I wish you and your family much love, strength and peace during this difficult time.
So sorry to hear of Gale's passing. I have fond memories of the short time I had with him after we bought their farm. There was a fair gap in our ages (which now does not seem as wide). He always had time for a nine year old kid. He was truly a nice guy.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family as your mourn the loss of your loved one.
