It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden and unexpected passing of our beloved wife, mother, grandmother and treasured friend, Astri Holst on Tuesday, May 30, 2017 at the age of 74 years. Astri loved people and children in particular. Her grandchildren were the apples of her eye. She had many friends and enjoyed the camaraderie of her Lakeview Ladies golf group, Bunco group and ‘Counting’ group at church. Astri is lovingly remembered by her husband of nearly 51 years, Peter; sons, Derek (Lisa), Richard (Tricia), Kevin (Virginia); grandchildren, Isabella, Roman, Oliver, Danika, Ryker, Hugh, Solana, Hudson, Vivienne; special grandson, Jordan; sister, Irene; numerous nieces and nephews and an extended family in Norway and the US. She was predeceased by her brother, Erwin.
A Memorial Service will be held at Lutheran Church of the Cross, 10620 Elbow Drive SW, Calgary, AB on Saturday, June 10, 2017 at 1:00 pm. Thanks are due to the nursing staff of the Foothills Medical Centre for the excellent care Astri received during her final days.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made, if so desired, to the Alberta Children’s Hospital Foundation (www.childrenshospital.ab.ca) or the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Calgary (https://www.heartandstroke.ca/get-involved/donate).
In loving memory of Astri Holst, a bench will be donated at Fish Creek Provincial Park.

Astri was in my thoughts often over the years since meeting. She was one of the the kindest most caring people I've had the pleasure of encountering. To the family, I'm at a loss and struggle for the right words to say, so just know I'm sending my heartfelt support your way.
We are so very sorry for your loss. Astri was a beautiful person. The O'Mahony's (Dan, Heather, Jorden and Claire.)
We were sad to hear (From Mel) that Astri has passed away. We especially want to let Pete know that we are glad to have had the pleasure of knowing Astri and Pete for more than 50 years when we were living in Edmonton and more recently two years ago, when Astri catered a party for old friends at her place. It was a great get together that will always be remembered. Thanks Pete and Astri. Hope to hear from you Pete, our best wishes are with you during this sad occassion. Gunnar and Bernice
Dear Peter and family. We were so sad as we learned about the sudden death of your dear wife Astri. Please receive our deepest sympathy and sincere condolences. We will always remember the times we were having dinner and laughing together. She was such a dear friend, lovely and sensitive in every aspect. May she rest in peace and her soul enjoy a new life close to our Lord Jesus in Heaven. With love and our prayers. Jorge and Coco.
