Christopher Michael McLellan

McLELLAN, Christopher Michael

Christopher passed away suddenly on Tuesday, September 12, 2017 in Airdrie, AB at the age of 35. Christopher will be lovingly remembered by family and friends.

Christopher was born in Drumheller and knew at an early age how special the Canadian Badlands are and pursued a career in tourism and marketing development after graduating from the University of Calgary. Christopher used his wealth of knowledge and heritage to promote the Canadian Badlands to visitors around the world.

He worked with the Canadian Badlands Passion Play for more than 10 years. His role there ranged from ticketing, marketing, logistics, and gift shop management.  He also had a leading role in getting the Canadian Icons in the Canadian Badlands concerts project off the ground. He ran many successful marketing campaigns for the Canadian Badlands big and small including the Spirit of the Badlands with Tom Jackson. He was instrumental in product development and ran the Visitor Information Centers for years. He drove the highways from Oyen to Milk River, east to Cypress Hills, west to Lethbridge, and up to Stettler with a passion to promote the place he calls home.

Christopher is the spirit of the Badlands. Tom Jackson has quoted that the Badlands change people. Christopher is part of that spirit.

A Celebration of Christopher’s Life will be held at a later date.

Chris was a great ambassador for the Canadian Badlands! His Spirit lives on because of the impact he had on the people and the love he had for this region. He was a positive bright light, loved to laugh and always eager to share the load. You are missed! Lonna, on behalf of Canadian Badlands Tourism, Board, and friends

My deepest condolences to Chris' family and friends. We worked together when he was the contract manager of the provincial visitor information centres, and was such a joy to talk to.

I am so sorry for your loss. No words can express the sorrow I feel for you and your family, at this time. My deepest and heartfelt sympathy goes out to all. He will be missed terribly.

I am so very sorry to hear of Christopher's passing, and my heart breaks for your loss.

Our sincere condolences to Karen and family. Our prayers are with you at this difficult time.

Chris was much more than an integral part of the Badlands Passion Play, he was a good friend to all of us and was always cheering us on and encouraging us to keep moving forward. We miss him dearly.

Sending deepest sympathies to Adam, to his mother Karen & family. Christopher always had a smile a mile wide & a laugh that is unforgettable. He lived life to the fullest and he will be sadly missed by all of us. Adam, you are & always will be family and my door is always open. There are no words that could express the loss you all have suffered.

I remember Christopher's enthusiasm, encouragement and "let's go attitude" at CBL. My prayers are for his family and dear friends to be comforted in this time of sorrow.

An amazing young man, a joy to know - he will be missed but lives on as a spirit of the Baflands.

To Karen and Daniel and family we are so sorry for your loss. Christopher was an amazing person and will be greatly missed. You are in our thoughts and prayers.

Rest in peace big gentle giant. Think about you everyday. Life is cruel. Known you since you went to kindergarten with Ashley. My heart hurts for you and you family. Love you Christopher

Such a shock. I am still having a hard time believing Christoper has passed. He was a good soul. Hard to come up with any appropriate words. Love to all. Lynn
