McPEEK, Eldora Esther
Eldora Esther McPeek (nee Hippert) was born on May 17, 1920 two hours after her twin sister Dallas, to Hanna and Victor Hippert in Gravelbourg SK. She grew up to be quite the horsewoman and loved all animals. She was a jockey for her father who owned race horses.
Eldora met her husband, William McPeek while working as a waitress. Her and Bill had three children, Darlene (Rousch), Gary and Sandra. The family moved frequently and finally settled in the Olds area. Eldora raised Angora Goats on her farm and planted a huge garden by hand which she also tilled by hand. When her husband passed away, Eldora went to live with her son until his death, and then lived in Olds for the remainder of her life. She passed into God's arms on Friday, June 9, 2017 at the age of 97 years.
Left to mourn her are her daughter, Darlene Rousch; grandchildren, Carol, Susan and Johnny; her twin sister, Dallas; as well as many nieces, nephews and friends. Eldora was predeceased by her parents; her brothers; husband, Bill; infant granddaughter, Deborah; daughter, Sandra and son, Gary.
“and God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying and neither shall there be anymore pain: for the former things are passed away.”
Our grandma will be missed. We often enjoy going out to the farm on the weekends and having a lunch or a dinner. Grandma was always there to fluttering to make sure everyone was happy and had enough food and cookies. Then sitting down to listen to Grandma stories. Though, in the last few years it's been difficult to see her, due to her health, she was always in hearts and minds.
