Fernand "Fern" Joseph Parenteau

PARENTEAU, Fernand (Fern) Joseph
February 18, 1934 – June 27, 2017

At age 83, Fern passed peacefully at the Foothills Country Hospice amongst family after his courageous battle with cancer. He was a strong man his entire life and remained strong right until the end. He was comfortable knowing it was time for his journey to move forward and that God would clear his path. On that day, our mom, Irene, lost her loving partner of 62 years; his siblings lost their brother and his children, Mike (Barbara), Kathy Myles (Ted), Steve (Alana) and Darrell lost their dad. He also leaves behind his granddaughter, Samantha Muys (Justin) and many step grandchildren & great grandchildren. He was truly loved by all. Through his lifetime, he made many, many friends and will be remembered by them all forever.

Dad travelled west from Montreal in 1950 and had a very successful career in the oil industry which lead to his retirement in 1991. Since then Dad and Mom were never apart, spending their winters in Yuma Arizona, summers in Sicamous BC and their home base here in Calgary. With friends and family his favorite times were playing card games, marble games, golfing, water sports & any other challenging suggestion. He will be dearly missed, will always be in our hearts and we know he’ll be watching over us until we see him again in the future.

Our family would like to thank Dr. Wilson and the wonderful ladies at the Hospice for their care and support throughout dads stay. If friends so desire, donations may be made in dad's memory to:
