SCHARPEGGE, John William

John Scharpegge , 75, passed away on Friday, June 9, 2017 at the Chinook Hospice in Calgary following his battle with cancer. He was born and raised in St. Albert, Saskatchewan and later moved to Princeton, BC, where he met Jackie at the hospital where she was nursing. They were married in Seattle, WA and eventually moved to Kelowna, BC where their daughters were born. They purchased a summer cabin on the Okanogan Lake which they converted into an all year-round home. John came to Calgary in 1978, where he commuted for a year, the family following him in 1979. He worked for Leduc Paving for many years before starting his own paving business, High Country Paving Ltd which he ran for the next 35 years. John was a hardworking, loving and devoted husband as well as a generous and thoughtful man. He will be greatly missed.

John will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 52 years, Jackie Scharpegge; 3 daughters, Cindy (Jeff) Gross, Jennifer (Cameron) Jackson and Diane (Doug) Anderson; 5 grandchildren, Justin, Steven, Seth, Nicholas and Paige; as well as many other family and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Ann Knight and Fred Scharpegge; and his brother, Jim Scharpegge.

A Memorial Service will be held at the Southwood United Church, 10690 Elbow Drive SW, Calgary, AB on Friday, June 23, 2017 at 2:00 pm.
