Marion Allen Hall (nee Smellie)

July 14, 1923 - April 30, 2018

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Marion on Monday April 30, 2018, just a few months before her 95th birthday. She was surrounded by family and slipped peacefully away.

Predeceased by: her husband John in 1972; her daughter, Gladys; her son, James; a brother, James Smellie; and her parents, George and Janet Smellie.

She leaves to mourn: a daughter, Jean (Dale) Sargeant of Alder Flats, AB; a son, John (Barb) Hall of Rochester, AB; her beloved granddaughters, Shelly, Tamie, Ladene, Dana, Lisa, Leah and Jodean; her only grandson, Dallas;  nine great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, many other family members and her very special friends Darlene and Willis Sargeant.

Marion was born July 14, 1923 in Ricinus, AB. She later moved to central Alberta where she went to school in Eclipse and Spring Valley. In 1943 she married John Hall and they continued to live and farm in the Spring Valley district. Here they had their four children. In 1967 they moved to Lacombe where she resided until her passing.

While living in Lacombe Marion enjoyed working for the Lacombe Globe and Stedman’s. When she wasn’t working she loved to garden, play cards and spend her one night a week playing Bingo with Darlene at the Lacombe Legion Hall.

Her last years have been spent in the extended care unit of the Lacombe Hospital and the family would like to extend a very special thank you to all the staff and caregivers there who made her final years comfortable and who showed her the greatest compassion.

A family service and celebration of life will be held at a later date.
