Messages:
I was devastated to hear of David's passing. I was blessed to be his friend & a recipient of his love & trust over several years. We had a deep bond & he often shared his struggles, hopes, dreams with me. He was like a younger brother to me. I will miss him deeply. May he now experience the peace that eluded him in life. Love you forever my dear "Mao Da Wei."
It is with great sadness that I heard that we lost David. I see from the previous comments that his effect on others was similar. I don't understand why he left us, when there was seemingly so much he had to offer and so much that the world had to offer him. His eyes were set on heaven. I know that. I pray that his soul may rest in peace and that his dear family may know peace as well.
Dear Holmes family, We have been deeply touched by the life of your son and brother. We share with you our deepest love and condolences. We pray for you for peace and comfort. David was at our home many times hanging out with our daughter and friends. he was always always so kind, thoughtful, caring- engaging in deep conversations and truly interested in our lives. We loved hearing about his life, career and academic ambitions. We believed in him. He had a huge selfless heart for others. His smile and ‘radio voice’ made us smile. He is remembered with love and respect.
To each of you, I am so deeply sorry for your loss. David was somebody I always looked up to, and his memory will inspire many to live with love, courage, and passion.
David, I am so grateful and blessed that I got the opportunity to meet you, know you, and have you as a friend. Who you were as a person and your bright contagious smile cannot be put into words. I remember the 1st time I met you walking back from P.E. class one spring afternoon. I was shy and nervous but you knew how to make me laugh. You were so sweet and kind and compassionate, you truly had a heart of gold. Even though you were a grade below me, you asked me if you could be my date and take me to my graduation formal; I was so thrilled. I vividly remember that special evening when you came to my house to pick me up. I was coming down the stairs in my red dress; you were standing at the bottom. I'll never forget how you blushed when you saw me and how you told me how beautiful I looked. You truly made me feel like a princess that evening and I'll never forget it. Neither will I ever forget the day you went to the Calgary Stampede with my sister and I. I remember when we were riding the subway down to the stampede grounds and you stood up and gave your seat to a woman who was standing; you were so kind, selfless, and thoughtful. I remember when we were playing games on the midway and you wanted so badly to win us a giant stuffy, but you ended up just winning a small elephant. I appreciated it equally as much because it was the thought that count. David, if only you could have known how many lives you touched. You were loved and intelligent and full of potential. You will be greatly missed, but I wholeheartedly believe and know that God is holding you right now in His loving arms. I will see you on the other side my friend.

Dear Carol and Family, My heart aches for your loss of your beautiful boy. With his intelligence, confidence, kindness, and faith, he was a light in our school community. God bless you all.

Blaine and I felt very sad when we read David's obit this morning. I have so many memories of you at Edwards Elementary, Paul, but that is so long ago. Now your children are Christian adults and being Christian is so special especially when one is experiencing death of a loved one. I will remember you in my prayers.
I've only had the opportunity to recently meet David. He was my math tutor and in the few sessions we had, he was very encouraging and inspirational. I am truly sorry for your loss.
Oh Paul I am so so sorry I just heard about your son today. I know there are no words l can say to make this hurt less for you and Carol and your family. Please know my heart goes out for you guys and if there is anything we can do please let me know. Your all in my thoughts and prayers.
I just heard of your son's tragic death, and am so very sorry for your loss. I cannot imagine how difficult it must be for you and your family. Know our family will hold you in our prayers.
To David's mom & dad and his siblings too, I am so very sorry for your loss. I'd like you to know, I had the privilege of getting to know David over the last few months after we met at a political event. David spoke in a room of about 100+ people so easily. His intelligence and healthy moral stance was easily recognizable as he comfortably addressed the speaker of the event. Having children his age myself I felt he was a young man to be very proud of. Getting to know him a little better during a few more gatherings, only reiterated what I first suspected ..... a very good and principled young man indeed. I am a better person for having known David, even for the brief time which was granted to me. May he rest in eternal peace and may you all find peace in your memories of his days here with you all. Leah
