Barbara Jean Lafrentz
November 12th, 2018
Barbara Jean (BJ) Lafrentz (nee Ambury) passed away peacefully on November 12, 2018. Left to celebrate her life are her sisters, Maureen (Rudy) Storek, Linda (Gordon) Nielsen, Lorraine (Eric) Anderson, and Carol Cameron; sister-in-law, Helen Ambury; brother-in-law, Albert Hawkins; Russell’s brother, Don (Shirley) Lafrentz; and the extended Lafrentz family; all her nieces and nephews; great-nieces and nephews on both Barbara and Russell’s side of the family. She loved them all. Her ‘Sisters of the Heart’ Darlene (Mike) Strachey and Rose (John) Grant were very special to Barb and they will miss all the great times they had with her. Barb was welcomed ‘home’ by her loving husband, Russell; her mom and dad, Doris & Howard Ambury; brother, Larry Ambury; sister, Louise Hawkins; brother-in-law, Reuben Cameron; and great-nephew, Landon Caldwell. Barbara received her education in various Alberta towns and graduated in Alix, Alberta. She then moved to Calgary to pursue a career in Early Childhood Education which allowed her to do what she loved best; working with children. Barb treated all the children in her care with love, dignity and respect, while ensuring they were learning, playing and having fun. Barb loved life, had a great sense of humor and a huge heart. She touched the lives of everyone who knew her. She married the love of her life, Russell Lafrentz in July 1980 and together they opened their hearts and their home to many special friends and family members. A Graveside Service will be held at Mountain View Memorial Gardens, 1515-100 Street S.E, Calgary, Alberta on Friday, November 23 at 1:00 p.m. No other Memorial Service or Funeral is planned. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Foothills Cardiac Intensive Care Unit, c/o Calgary Health Trust, 800, 11012 Macleod Trail SE, Calgary, Alberta T2J 6A5; Access Calgary P.O. We are missing you mama bear. The morning wake up going to the back door and giving me breakfast and supper. We are missing the long walks and adventures through Bridgeland.
The village of Bridgeland is sadden by your loss and presence. We are deeply missing your quick wit and sense humor. The neighborhood is bare without you walking down 1st. Avenue. Please enjoy your eternal paradise with dancing freely with your dear Russell and others. We will miss you small appearance on earth and ray of sunshine. The love rays are all coming down from Heaven. Lulu and Chase are missing you dearly too.
I send my condolences to all of Barbara's family, May God be with you all during these trials.
Barbara worked with me for many years at the Pleasant Heights Child Development Centre. She was always very devoted to the children. Barbara had a good sense of humour and could lighten a day with a joke. I am very sorry I am unable to attend the services tomorrow. Sincerely, Cec Clark
Dear Maureen, Linda, Lorraine, Carol and family, Barb was a special lady, one of a kind, huge heart and a very faithful volunteer over the years to Franciscan and Friends charity. She will be missed! We are joyful in knowing she is forever embraced in Gods eternal love, heart to heart with Russell. May your memories comfort and sustain you ! God Bless, Barbie and Denis Grady
Although it’s difficult today to see beyond the sorrow, may looking back in memory help comfort you tomorrow❤️ My deepest condolences Lorna Ashton
