Margaret (Peg) Helen Panowicz

October 22nd, 2018

Mom passed away peacefully on Monday, October 22, 2018 with her daughters by her side.

Left to celebrate her life are: Debbie Macleod (Robert), Sandi Kinch (Curtis Clark), Shannon Lodomez, Alexander Lodomez, Jacqueline Kinch (Jason), Patricia Kinch (Dustin), Arthur Abrahams (Carol) and family; and her pride and joy, great-grandaughter, Jaylyn Rose Gilbert.

Peg was born in Calgary on May 30, 1932.  Her family moved to Elk Point, Alberta in her early years and then moved to Ladysmith, BC.  She moved back to Calgary in 1957, married and became the mother of two daughters.

A hard worker, Peg was employed as a bookkeeper for most of her life and was the go-to person for most of her family and friends when it came Income Tax time.  In the early 80’s she opened a restaurant, Maggie’s Country Kitchen, in Water Valley and loved the time she spent there.    Always on the go, Peg loved the outdoors and spent time walking, skating, hiking, and taking long country drives. When she was not outdoors, she was playing crib, dancing, and making the best butter tarts!

The family would like to thank her many friends that have been taking such great care of her over the years.  A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Memorial donations can be sent to Alberta SPCA, 17904-118 Ave. NW, Edmonton, AB T5S 2W3.

Messages:

Marg was a long time friend and we were always in touch. I worked with your mom at FCA in 1955 - 56. After I was married and moved to the coast in 1956, we still kept in touch. She was a close friend. When she would come out to the Island, we always met and she would come to my place for a long visit. I knew a few of her friends from Calgary. I did not get a card from her the past few years and could not get in touch, so decided to look in the obits in the Herald. I was so very sad to hear of her passing. She was a great person. I am so sorry for your loss. I knew you girls when you were young, but since I moved to the coast, we could not see you and your mom often. Take care. Love Vera

So sorry to hear of your loss. Marg was a great friend to our family and will always be remembered for her loyalty and kindness to our mother. She will surely be missed.

Our condolences to your family at this time. Marg was a great friend to Hilda. They were next door neighbours for many years and kept in touch right until Hilda's death. Marg was a big-hearted person and always went out of her way to help others.
